He can now (pretend to) explore the marketing opportunities of changing the name. Obviously there are none. He then has a dignified reason to justify his change of heart. I said earlier "Mr Allam's a proud man but show him that he can learn humility" He's a quick learner, he should be proud of that. It's not over completely but we're in a better place than we were earlier today. I'm in no doubt that this is because a few supporters stepped up to the plate, got themselves organised & made a difference. It's down to them that we'll retain our name. Wonderful. .
The big thing for me is that he appears to have offered assurances that any decisions will not be made on a whim. They will be researched, quantified, evidenced and then discussed again. To say shouldn't be about profit this and shouldn't be about money that is a bit naive. This is modern finance driven football and if AA has even an inkling that he could make £X million from a name change then I don't blame him for investigating it, providing he goes about it in the way he appears to have stated. Personally I just don't think he'll find enough evidence or proof of the financial benefit and that will be that. Excellent result tonight, the best that realists could hope for.
I'll put up more info tomorrow, I was planning on a report tonight, but I've just got back and I'm knackered.
instead of putting any negative slant on it, how many clubs in the english league structure would meet with fan groups? never mind in the premier league, it's a massive result currently, i fully believe he cares about what the fans think/say, as well as his own ideas and we couldn't of asked for more from today
If they hadn't shortened their name throughout various mergers they could well have been called GlaxoWellcomeSmithKlineAndFrench. Just saying.
I'm watching Reservoir Dogs right now as well... Anyways, well done OLM as well as everyone else who went there to represent us fans.
We are taking too much for granted. This is only the first stage of a long campaign. Lines have been draw and it seems that assurances have been given, but little has in fact changed. But IMO the work done so far has produced a real foundation for the club and supporters. On reading this it may seem a little negative, but it's not meant to be. I am pleased with what I have heard so far.
Assem Allam: "I'll never touch the colours of the club - that is criminal'' This pleases the hell out of me, hope he sticks by that.
Still it's no 'Drugs Dragons' Yeah but that's not what people call them, and we are HCAFC so only two characters longer
Hopefully Assem Allam realises that many supporters dont care to much if he changes the name to Hull Tigers...and consider him as our greatest owner ever. Assem Allams Black and Amber Army Also those who dont mind that much include many long time supporters whose view is just as important as those ranting about the name change... These are fantastic times for Hull City / Hull Tigers and a little name change wont spoil these great times for me and a lot of others. Most Supporters Dont even use forums.. On a coach with over 40 fans on from filey , Bridlington, leven . Beverley there was only me and 2 others that have used these forums so they told me The views on here dont represent the majority in my opinion and neither does a 3,000 signed petition UTT And remember i am entitled to my view as much as anyone on here.
"The big thing for me is that he appears to have offered assurances that any decisions will not be made on a whim. They will be researched, quantified, evidenced and then discussed again". Don't you think he should have done this prior to to coming out publicly about proposed changes".
ideally I'm sure we all would have liked what's happened this evening to have occurred before his "common" comments etc. fact is though as it stands, this reconsideration/backtrack is probably the best we could have hoped for.
