Not quite the usual strong European challenge this year but some hugely entertaining races nonetheless and some very good animals to almost round off the flat season before the final big one in Melbourne on Tuesday morning. The big European guns are out tomorrow but there is some great action tonight for anyone who takes time to check the form over. 8.45pm: OLD TIME HOCKEY 10/1 The Breeders Cup marathon is interesting because many of the horses are untested as stayers. The thing with this horse is that his form almost suggests he is crying out for one, staying on between horses and past beaten horses, and I think he will go very close. A strong pace ought to be ensured via Ever Rider and Commander, who should beat each other up to set this up for someone to gallop past and I like the idea of my selection being that horse provided it handles the dirt. 9.25 POKER PLAYER 12/1 (EACH-WAY) The draw is unfavourable here but this looks a horse who quickens and puts races to bed really nicely. An impressive winner in a Grade 3 on Dirt last time out, it came round the bend about 6 lengths down before quickening down the outside to win readily. If it avoids traffic problems, this looks an each-way price. WILSHIRE BOULEVARD 8/1 can also run a big race at interesting odds, with best two performances of the season being the times he encountered fast turf, including when beating the useful OKLAHOMA CITY. 11:35 PRINCESS OF SYLMAR 3/1 (NAP) The Breeders Cup Distaff is a great chance for Princess Of Sylmar to rack up a 5th consecutive Grade 1. She beat Royal Delta 2 lengths last time and although Royal Delta is aimed at peaking here, Princess of Sylmar has been hugely impressive. She sits out the back off any pace and simply quickens up round the bend in tremendous style, showing plenty stamina to boot. Fast dirt is no problem and I'm puzzled by the 3/1 price. On form she ought to be 7/4 favourite here and as she is versatile pace-wise, she really ought to have a great chance here.
I've had a lucky 15 ew and have gone for: 8:45 - Bluskiesnrainbows 13/2 9:25 - Bashart 10/1 10:05 - Holy Lute 20/1 10:50 - Chriselliam 5/1

Nice one Toppy and remember the wise words of Jim Bowen on Bullseye: "Keep in the black and out of the red, nothing in this game for 2 in a bed"
This marathon is a right old conundrum ........................... Ever Rider probably the one to be on.
Taken some 5/1 on Ever Rider - seems a fair price and at least he's won over 13 furlongs - most of the others haven't even run that far
My only two bets of the night are below. Best of luck with your bets 9.25 Bobbys Kitten 7/2 10.50 Vorda 7/2
