I cant understand the negative comments on here. we have brought in a new player, to cover for injuries and give us more options. nowhere does it say 'instead of a full back' or 'to replace xyz'. he is at an age when most footballers are approaching their best. he is known to the manager. if we had signed a new cleaner I would be happy. better some activity than none
Strange one to me. Reid seems to have come on a long way this season, and Bryan we knew always was one for the future. There is I guess, a risk of over playing the youngsters (never quite saw what harm this did), but struggling to see why we need to strengthen in CM
'The 27-year-old was an integral figure at the City Ground under O’Driscoll last season. But he has rarely featured under Billy Davies' I'll be surprised if SOD's right and Davies is wrong.
Read the Forest Forum and a lot of Forest fans think he's decent. One fan posted 'not suited to Billy's High Tempo play. I'm pleased for him he's moved to a club/manager that will use him to his best'. It looks like SOD's going to persist with his 2mph possession game. May the Lord help us.
We need a striker which we are told there is no money yet the club currently has on loan: Keeper, Defender and Midfielder. Baldock cannot play up front on his own which is why we played so much better with Taylor in the second half but all our goals came from midfield, as I think JET is more of a Trequartista style midfielder.
Always like to see decent footballers joining the club. And to strengthen the squad. I thought Wynter was returning to fitness after an injury? And Wynter, Reid, etc., will need periods of rest. They are young. How can this be anything but a positive move?
Sorry, this is a bit of an odd quote to me... It's quality not quantity that we need. No point signing 10 non league players as good cover. You want someone who can impact the game of football. I'd rather have NO activity, than pointless activity, as its wasting money we don't have. As for him being at an age where he is approaching his peak of his playing abilities. That is also silly. That is on the basis he has been playing fairly regularly from 18 - 21 at a professional level, and then week in week out for a club for the the next 6,7 of 8 years. This comment hardly rings true of a man who has only made 170 odd appearances since his career began 8 years ago!
I know lets all speculate about him and make our minds up on the little tittle tattle we have before any of us have even seem him play.!!
I'm not for or against the signing, he could be a midget Zidane for all I know, but I won't be getting excited about his ability until I have seen him play, because so far, he hasn't shown promise anywhere else. Thats not to say he won't with us.
100% IBSR the point I was making. Lets see him play first, rather than judge him on the way he is holding the City shirt, his hair style, or what he has done for other teams and clubs. Even what other clubs fans say is irrelevant. I hope he pulls on the City shirt and proves to be a worthy addition to the squad.
C'mon let's look at the positives, it probably means that Kilkenny is further away from the first team and maybe closer to leaving in January?? Got to be on a fair salary!!!
Positive view is that Gillet has mostly played as the defensive midfielder who protects the back four. Pack and Elliott are more suited to a freer role going box to box. Reid is better going forward but also has a tremendous work rate that also gets him back to cover defensively. Wagstaff and Bryan are the only two that one could describe as wide midfielder. Kilkenny, less said the better. Wynter has not been seen enough because of injury to judge where he will fit best, but it may be either as defensive midfield or in the back four. Osborne is desperately needed as cover in central defense as Carey appears to be perpetually injured or I'll. And while I'm talking about the back four, I'd really like to see an in form Greg Cunningham back where he belongs. Shorey as an ex Prem with England caps appears now well past his best before date.
'means that Kilkenny is further away from the first team and maybe closer to leaving in January??' I ask you - who the f**k will sign Kilkenny on his wages. And just like Junior will wait for his contract to run out. Parasites.
Hmmm, shows us in a poor light (again) this one.... We also signed Darren Byfield, Dele Adebola, asked if we could borrow Patrick Agyemang, Stern John, gave John Stead almost 20k a week and never played him, and were the team that let the fat controllers brother convince the board that someone he heard about on the internet (Akinde) was going to be a Premier League player one day. It's safe to say we have a rather poor track record. Good luck to Gillet though, he could be our Claude Makelele
Tosser I got all excited with the mention of the possibility that he could leave in January, and you went and spoiled it
