We’re getting the feeling that you’re 50/50 on the new sponsor. It’s actually a positive testament to City as a club that an international brand sees us as an ideal vehicle to get their message out nationally – they’ve only got three shops in Hull, so it’s not as if they’ve chosen Hull as a city from which to make their money back.

They’ve chosen us because the club, you and the city itself are now well regarded in the right circles. We’ve worked very, very hard to project the club in this way (which is in fact the way it *should* be viewed, because this *is* a really good city with a brilliant club and proper fans - full stop).

A few points to consider are that:
    a) CC is essentially an offline version of eBay (loans is a small part of their business) and if you wanted, you could find fault with *any* sponsor.
    b) We’ve turned ourselves around so much since December that we were seen as a better prospect than some Premier League clubs.
    c) Be assured that financially(and yes, we did consider CC as a brand)this is the best ever shirt sponsorship deal for Hull City, and what’s more,we’ve even financially outperformed one team that got promoted to the Prem by a heck of a lot.
    d) The ECB & the FA endorsed CC by allowing CC’s advertising - you don’t get much higher profile in sport than that.
    e) CC even changed the colours of their logo at our insistence.

This international sponsor, who do essentially what eBay does, sends out a very positive message about the club because in business terms, we are now seen as capable, groundbreaking, positive, and on the up – and that reflects on Hull as a city. (Plus the money goes to strengthen the squad, because at the end of the day, that’s what we all want!) We’ll leave it with you now… go debate! (As if you need telling…) :)

There's an official club page on FB? Wtf is it?! I've looked there before and couldnt see anything of any actual newsworthy type interest or discussion. Well apart from the campaign to rid us of certain radio cretins which I joined ofc!

As an eBay user I find it hard to compare their website to Cash Converters, one is a online auction where one can achieve profit and the other is a place where people desperately seek the money to feed their drug addictions by pawning their possessions at below-value prices. The only people who gain profit at Cash Converters are crack heads offloading stolen goods.

It's funny that one of the posters on that thread actually works for Cash Converters and is disputing the claim that they mainly deal in second hand goods, saying their financial services division is massive. <laugh>

Interesting that it was actually started by a couple of blokes from Hull though.

They clearly know it's **** and embarrassing and are doing their best to justify it.

Am interested that they got CC to change the colour of their logo - I'd have thought anything other than a black (or amber) background would have been better that waht they've ended up with?

I'm sure this is a great deal financially for the club (which is why they've done it) but it doesn't get round the fact that CC are associated with scumbags and it therefore portrays a **** image of the club and the city to the wider public. Agree re disputing the 50/50 figure as well - more like 90/10 based on the contributions to various threads on here!

You can edit a post to leave it blank, or you can ask me to delete it(though it still says it's been deleted), I'm not sure if you can actually delete your own posts completely, I have slightly different pages to everyone else(other than DMD obviously).

It probably only says it's been deleted to moderators, that's the case on most forums like this anyway.

you can't dispute the financial benefits but will they balance the books with shirt-sales? it's true CC are big, there's even a branch here in Lyon. I understand the image, there's no getting away from it but times are hard & if folks need a bit of extra cash then it's an easy way.. you can't auction stuff in a CC branch though, so not really ebay. Funny ebay has a positive image world-wide & the big difference is that CC takes a bigger cut of the sale price. On ebay the selling and prices are more the control of the seller. I've used ebay but never CC.

Just had an interesting idea.. French people know CC so I'm going to ask my trainees who support Olympique Lyon (a lot of them do) during the next week what would be their reaction if CC sponsored their team? Would they see it as a negative point, would they still buy a shirt? Their last season's sponsor was an online betting company like City's.

What will be interesting too is that Lyon probably has a different reputation to Hull, it's a fairly well-off city, never been a traditional hotbed of football & has a population of about 1 million. Rugby Union is probably more popular in these parts. Let's see, I'll feedback on it inc. the relative % of opinions here.

Good call. I live in London, most people down here think it's hilarious that we're sponsored by them and reinforces their impression that Hull is full of smackheads and 'pikeys'.

i d only refer to my post of yesterday. Pools Corner was renouned all over the world by all those who had cause to visit hull and 'get rid of stuff'. That obviously makes them a world brand. Japenese Whale Fishermen is also a world brand....lets get on the shirt...........I know a good firm of seal cullers who could be interested......how about animal medical testers.......where do we draw the line.........but i do hate all the spin that the club are putting on this.....the reason cashconverters are interester in hull is because the profile of their average 'customer' fits the national image of Hull nicely. the Hull City took the sponsorship is because is was the best we could get. forget ethics of course and the local good!!! possibly a lesson in how (NOT) to score points and influence the local council at a time when the need to be courting favour!!
