I watched the Sunderland game against Newcastle - Altidore worked very hard, put some real effort in and looked lively throughout and I thought that he was Sunderland's stand out player. However, apart from being a fair bit stronger he didn't strike me as having greatly improved over the last four years. In general play Newcastle were easily the better team and must be kicking themselves that they didn't win the game - as long as City can field a side that is at least approaching full strength (and don't fall for all of the post Newcastle hype) they should still be capable of outplaying what is essentially a pretty dire Sunderland squad.
Davies could handle Lukaku I think he can handle Altidore. Altidore was one of my favourites in his time here though, will be weird.
Should be a good competitive game again on Sat; personally don't think it will be a goal fest so first goal could be the only goal!
Despite winning on Sunday, Sunderland still looked poor - Newcastle looked easily the better team. I've no problem with Altidore calling the game "winnable", meanwhile - that's hardly a show of disrespect. It's just a normal, positive approach to the next game.
I think this division is already showing that all matches are winnable, and losable. All just depends on if the last away matches will make us nervous at home. A lot riding on this match, especially for Steve Bruce.
Well the Sunderland fans I've spoken to and plus the one which commented on this board think this. I shouldn't have cast you all in the same group.
I believe there was one comment out of hundreds which backed your case, which is not exactly representative of us..
hi Mr White, Could you please tell me the significance of the black cat as your nickname? Also, did you stop calling yourselves the rokerites once you moved from the SOL? Cheers
They seem to be putting a lot of importance, and pressure on themselves, with this game. http://metro.co.uk/2013/10/31/sunde...newcastle-will-be-completely-wasted-4168364/?
The name Black Cats has been associated with Sunderland for a very long time. Some say that it was because it was the name of some largee anti aircraft guns based in Sunderland, but from what I have read about our history, it originated because a stray black cat wandered into the Sunderland changing room before a game, and the team adopted it which coincided with a great run of results..For many years it was more associated with the supporters club, but was adopted by the club when we moved from Roker Park and dropped the Rokerites name then.
It's not set in stone he'll play lads to be honest. He had a good game v the Nags but Borini has been pushing for a start and after his goal against the mags and fletch is scoring as always so Jozy may not start.
Same question regarding Tigers fella? Club nicknames are very interesting (but should be kept as nicknames )
But, it was adopted by Bob Carvers and served with chips. Therefore, out of sentiment, the Club changed the colour of our kit and adopted the 'Tigers' as a nickname in respect.
