It most certainly should have been. What did he contribute tonight?

I wonder what Remy was thinking when he was watching Cisse's performance?

Jack **** again. As soon as Campbell is fit, I'd give him a go ahead of Cisse. I realise as a manager you should never just give up on someone, particularly when you have so few options, but he is a lost cause.

Completely agree. He'll certainly be no worse and it could be the making of him. Whatever else he'll run his backside off and give 100% effort for the team he loves. We need more players with that affinity for NUFC.

Campbell and Dummett are the future of the Club, they'll give 100% and they wont let us down, I'd play them on a regular basis.

Hammy's are never really short term. With Haidara suffering the same injury, we will be suffering more of Santon at left back

I thought the team on the whole was good last night but it we had no quality in the final third. The subs of Cabaye and Ben Arfa certainly disrupted the team. I thought Sissoko played well UNTIL Cabaye came on which is odd. The two goals came from what serious money can buy which is frustrating but you can't do much about it. If serious injuries ravage this side we will be in trouble. If we don't buy a big, target man with ability who can hold the ball and generally cause a threat we will be a relegation battle once again.

To be fair I just wonder if he had the fitness to go 120 minutes, was a nuisance. Also on a different topic can anyone explain how Nastasic and Demarchlis are in the first team there ahead of Lescott (who for me was the best player on the pitch).

With you on this. If they played Richards and Lescott in their first team they'd be top, or thereabouts.

Quite agree, though Zabaleta does seem to have improved a lot of the last 12 months.

Lescott should be starting. Richards is less convincing. Makes a lot mistakes and positionally is very naïve and end product is poor. A crowd pleaser as he is all heart and bustle but I think it masks some obvious problems. Zabeleta is top class.

Lescott is exactly what we need. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Just read a Telegraph article that did have a valid point - WHY did we rest the players we did? Is the modern footballer not capable of playing once or twice a week anymore?

We KNEW City would rock up with their second eleven, but as witnessed the night before in Arsenal v Chelsea, if you don't have a vast squad you need to be at your best to stand a chance. Arsenal brought in some teenagers, Chelsea brought in Willian and Mata. Chelsea won. We were almost better than Man City. The result is all the counts, almost isn't quite enough. Would Remy have missed all three gilt-edged chances the Cisse somehow fcked up? Would Cabaye not have been more influential starting? Would it not have made sense to play as many players in position as possible? Tiote and Debuchy threw themselves around for 2 hours straight, and I would bet good money both will play better than Davide Santon on the weekend.

Can't change a fcking thing now, but I've just realised how galling it was that we didn't play a stronger, more balanced side.

Because if we did Pardew would be out of a job this morning. Mike has no interest in the cups meaning Pardew isn't allowed to go at them full tilt.

To be fair to the players, this whole "are they not fit to play twice in a week" or 3 in 6 days as it has been, is a complete load of bollocks. It shows a complete lack of knowledge on the part of the hacks. It is about levels. The lines fitness wise are finer than at any time in football history due to the development in sports science etc. A small fitness advantage makes a huge amount of difference. This isn't some myth the managers are creating, its based on scientific fact!

Personally though I'd rather have gone full tilt at Man C just for the hell of it. We'd likely struggle against Chelsea at full strength. They have a completely rested in form side. I think we got caught between two stones and the manager is trying to steer us away from a hammering by conserving players in the league. It just ended up backfiring anyway!
