Cheers mate - you have a great chance of progressing further with the draw for the next round - hope you go on and win it
No I don't blame him. I haven't even seen the penalties. Just saying you can't expect the takers to score every single one and 7 out of 9 would win most shootouts. They won't give a **** who we put out and I don't blame them. If that was us against Leicester we'd still celebrate winning a shootout like that.
I always hate taking penalties second. Seems like a disadvantage to me. Almost every player who took one for us was doing it to save the game. Massive pressure on them. If we'd kept one out and got ahead it'd be a lot easier.
Over 210 minutes we proved that our side is capable of mixing with the best of them, even without key players. And with that, I think the rest of this season is set up to be great. Anyways, we still have the FA Cup!
You haven't seen the penalties PLT. That's why you're saying that. All spurs bar Lamela's were top class. I thought Jak could have got the right way for Paulinhos though, I could see it clearly from the camera which way he was going before he'd taken two steps. But even had he gone the right way, nothing saying he'd have saved it.
That's why I thought it was bizarre putting McLean first. Whoever gets ahead first in a shoot out gets a huge nerves advantage. I'd always put penalty takers from best to worst, put the best 5th and he might not even get to take one...
I'm sure you're right, I'm not trying to criticise Jak at all. Just saying the attackers couldn't do much more. Reminds me of the Rotherham shootout last year when the first 15 penalties or something went in and all were excellent. Even the Rotherham one that missed was good but hit the bar.
Jak got close to quite a few, certainly no blame there. McLean's penalty horrific, but he ran and ran so maybe a bit tired. Elmo's not that good either, but tonight is not the night to lay blame. All in all, sad to go out, but everyone tried v v hard, it didn't always work, but we can be proud of all of them. UTT
Plus Spurs should have been dowm to 10 men, if not 9 as Defoe was lucky not to get booked for handball in the box when he was already on a yellow.
After watching so many England penalty shoot outs I could not watch this one, just listening to it wasn't quite so nerve wracking. After the first pang of disappointment I just feel very proud of all of them, so many players missing and the others really stepped up to the mark. How to pick themselves up for Saturday though, some very tired legs out there. I hope every supporter in the ground on Saturday gives them a fantastic welcome back home and makes a noise all through the game.
Hard to take. Played twice, Lost by a penalty twice, beaten by a team which cost over £75,000,000 more than ours. Onwards and upwards. Proof we aren't to be trifled with. In Brucey we trust. Pah!
Caller on Humberside: "When we went 1-0 down I was thinking, here we go, another whitewash." The ****?
i'm sure one of the requirements to ring humberside is to be a ****** when did we last concede 3 goals? without looking im thinking away to crystal palace last season?
