I'm not depressed, on paper it looks like an impossible task, but fortunately we're not playing on paper. With any luck, the Spurs fans will give AVB some right grief and their players get all edgy and Gedo can come on and score a hat-trick.
My guess is, if Brucey wants to keep Davies out of the firing line... ----------------Jak Elmo -- Macca -- Bruce -- Fig -- Rosey ---Koren -- Meyler -- Quinn -- Boyd ---------------Prozzy He'd probably prefer to rest Figgy too, but there's no one else to put in a back three, is there? That leaves Harper, Davies, Huddlestone and Sagbo (plus Livermore) all fresh for Saturday.
I think we'll definitely rest Figgy, Brady is still a doubt for Saturday and he's not going to risk having Figgy out too.
Is Dudgeon at all in the picture, or is he not ready? He could go to a back four of LR-PMS-AB-JD, with Elmo in midfield (or rested), or perhaps EM-PMS-AB-LR if Dudgeon isn't in the picture.
I don't think we've had an injury update on Dudge for a while now, if he is fit, he's likely to be in the squad tonight.
Under the cirumstances, I approve of this side perhaps minus Rosenior. I'd like to see those two forwards get a chance versus decent opposition and isn't there any rough diamond youth players we could throw in (baptism of fire and all that bullshit?) Max Clark et al?
Good luck lads, I think if we were to meet in the next round then it'd be the best tie (in terms of progression) for both sides.
Well, if we met in the next round it would free you up to concentrate on the League, but as you will have your annual collapse in January anyway, I wouldn't call it progression. Still, for us, playing you in the next round would be like killing two birds with one stone; rest players AND advance in the Cup.
Ah yes, that has a major effect on the present... I forgot that getting to the quarter finals more recently than us meant you were better. That's how it works, right?
Leicester in the last 8 would be great - there must be several lads who can't quite get into our youth team and would love a run-out. And if a couple failed to make the grade, Leicester could buy them from us.
To lower league clubs progress in these competitions means much more. We’re pretty casual about it, we’re Premier League. Means nowt playing the big four et al. Bread versus butter.
But you've been a lower league club about 95% of your existence. Surely you see this as an opportunity to win silverware?
Quinn and Koren would swap over in that team I reckon. There's always the option of McLean RM and playing Boyd up front
We've been second tier for more of our existence than any other tier, but it's certainly true that we don't have a large collection of silverware. Problem is, in the modern game, the Premier League is where the money is and it takes priority over everything else. We'll play an entirely reserve team tonight and if we get a result, we'll play a reserve team in the next round too, only if we make the final will we consider putting out a first team.
