just about to post the same.

AP did intimate the other night that there was a young keeper they were very optimistic about. he suggested moreso if we don't go for guzan so its nice to see we do have a number of options.

If this is true, what has happened to Vito Mannone?

I thought we were in the business of "Try-Before-You-Buy". Forster certainly isn't that as he is going to break through at Newcastle soon and is highly thought of there. Also, Newcastle would insist he starts games as it is clealy the next step in his development after his period at Celtic.

That's what I'm sure the Pearson's have said; that they want the spine of the team to be city players, with peripheral positions being Loans. Keeper is surely a part of the spine.

Wish Burnsey had questioned Adam about Ayala and Vito the other night instead of prettling on about Portsmouth and what he's doing this weekend.

I saw an Arsenal fan recently claiming he'd been talking to one of the coaches and they were getting rid of Almunia and moving Mannone up the pecking order, so maybe that door has closed already.

if thats true OLM, i cant say im too bothered. mannone is a great keeper and could be top class in the future, but his injuries will hold him back. its quite rare for a keeper to get injured, they dont move around a lot and are trained to dive & land properly.

lets try to sign someone on mannone's level though as we could all see the difference between guzan & mannone.

I know this thread is about a keeper, but I also wonder what happened about Danny Ayala. At the end of last season AP said he was deffo on the wanted list and it was "JUST" a question of sorting out a fee. It all seemed faits accomplis by his tone. Will be disappointed if we don't sort something out for him and we fork out for Hobbs instead.

NP obviously read my post in the Tim Krul thread. Good 'keeper is Forster. Really big presence and great hands. A little slow of his line though.

I too have heard that Foster is a cracking keeper and tipped for the future. Things dont seem too stable at Newcastle at the moment, who knows, maybe a cheeky buy (doubt it though)?

On Ayala, is he in the Spain U21 squad? Might be why we have not heard much on him

Keepers are never going to be really in that high demand, there is a constant supply of them being developed to a good standard by PL clubs so if we need a keeper quickly i think there are quite a few out there, each club in the PL has at least 3 keepers then probably another youth one on top. Don't think this is really a position to worry about yet.

About time we had a new Forster in the team so that the majority of fans can call him Foster.

Would love Ayala back yes,but wouldnt mind Hobbs. For me its vital we go with James Chester though. Would also love to have Vito Mannone back, but Guzan is a liability. Good shot stopper, but the rest of his game is pants !
