We tried to explain you after the Dortmund game you could have problems in big games, and should not read your too much into your start, but you were arrogant and would not listen. Arsenal have the players, but also have a mental block, when it comes to winning games that matter. With United, Chelsea and City all in relative transition, this is Arsenal's chance to challenge for trophies. Next season when the 'big 3' managers have the players and playing system sorted it will only be harder for Arsenal.
I think it's too early to say how Arsenal will perform in the big games. I'd wait until they play Liverpool and United. More than capable of winning both.
I dont buy that for a second , we played well against Dortmund, no qualms about losing that one . Some you win and some you lose . But last lights performance was a travesty of a shambles. The only mental block when it comes to winning , was in Wengers mind . The team was too weak to seriously win that . Evidenced by the total lack of serious goal attempts.
Of course they CAN beat Liverpool and United, but to be taken seriously as title contenders they need to be taking points off both, and us and City too. teams rarely win the title if they fare badly against top teams although it has been done before. An with Arsenal, they also fail to beat the 'lesser teams' when the pressure is on too
Maybe but United are kings at being flat track bullies and winning titles without really beating the top teams. In their treble winning season they didn't beat Arsenal or Chelsea home or away. Liverpool did the double over them in 08/09 and they only took 1 point off Arsenal.
But this is what winning the league title is about. being consistent. No point raising your game just for some matches but losing or drawing the rest. You cannot certainly accuse us of this this season... Already lost points against WBA, and Saints FFS! I could not believe how bad Bentner was. Without Giroud Arsenal have no cutting edge. Without Ozil, they are also very ordinary however good Wilshere, Carzola and Ramsey may be. Very good first 11 but squad even worse than United's and that's saying something.
Gills fan in peace here I was listening to the game last night and to be fair it sounded like you were beaten all over the place. What I am shocked about is that wenger still has a place for bentdner. The bloke has to be one of the worst players to come into the epl yet still gets a place in the arsenal side. Its one of a number of decisions that wenger has me confused at. All the best for the season
I think he is only there because they couldn't sell him. He looked overweight and uninterested last night, I doubt he'll start another game for Arsenal, short of an outbreak of Typhoid in the group.
