I'd pay money and get a breed of dog, otherwise you might end up with some noisy excitable mut.

You want something that's fun and great with kids with bags of personality

Oh yeah sorry about the fish.
Do people get attached to fish?
From what I recall when young, we got up one morning and our goldfish was doing the backstroke yet not swimming, we watched our Mam put it down the toilet went off to school and never thought of it again till now.

I still miss my German Shepherd lying on my feet while I posted on here. :(

That's why I said, no one mentioned it. Never had one so don't know if it's possible.

We had a Mynah bird once, great company and talker.
Took months to persuade our Mam he was only saying "Cough!"

    Hahahahaha

Just rang my mate as I remembered his Beagle bitch had had pups recently and to ask if there was any left!
    His response.

"What ****ing time is it to be asking this I'm in bed."

    Hahahahahaha
Didn't realise it was so late while reading on here.

Oh and sorry effect they are all gone mate.

Our lass and her family have a beagle. The most gorgeous looking thing ever but my god she's hard work. Just a generically mischievous thing. Kind of like a kid with ADHD.

My sister just got a cockapoo (great name I know) and he's so good natured it's unbelievable. And he's not hard work at all, just chilled out all the time.

Two contrasting dogs, both have positives and negatives. (The stigma attached to telling people you've got a cockapoo is ridiculous).

Once you've got one you need to upload a pic, all the best in the hunt.

I've got as staffie and they are one of the most loyal dogs I've had, great with kids and not too fussy with food and so long as he gets his 2 walks a day he's happy. Don't take any notice of what you see on the news or read in the papers, treat them well and they are a brilliant breed. As with any dog, it's all about how you raise them. Take them to dog fights and they will fight, treat them well and they'll reward you with love and loyalty.

    This is Millie

    DSC01415.JPG

We've had her 6 years now, she was 1 when we got her, and she's been brilliant.

We got her from Dogs Trust (http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/). Appropriately we got Millie from the Kennelworth centre as I work nearby there. They charge a fee between £80 and £100, but they do neutering, microchipping, vet check, and vaccinations and a basic collar and lead included in that. When we were looking, they were very helpful, and very careful with what dogs they would allow since we have kids (who were about 7 and 10 at the time). I got the impression that they wouldn't let you take a dog that wasn't completely 100% trusted if you had young kids, so you can't really go wrong.

They've got a Dogs Trust in Darlo, here's a link to the dogs http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/rehoming/default.aspx?dogCentre=DAR#.UnD2eXB2Igh.

I'm sure that many other dog rehoming places are good, but Dogs Trust is the one we've had experience of.

I'd say get another fish as it's cheraper but I started with one fish and now have £600 worth of them in a grands worth of tank in the sitting room! Love it though.

Also have 3 dogs (Lhasa cross Poodle - Ozzy, Westie cross Yorkie - Alfie, and pedigree Westie 13 weeks old - Poppy). Our lass named Alfie, I named Ozzy (after Osbourne) and our daughter named Poppy (after her friend at school!!). All very loving - Alfie came for free from a friend but my in laws got a puppy from "preloved. You have to register for a fiver or something but there's often freebies on there
