Let's get this straight, there is no way Hughton can be praised for that game, but the players are as much to blame and the injuries didn't help. Definitely didn't deserve anything other than what we got but Johnson, Garrido, Bassong, Bunn and just about everybody on the pitch for us were as much to blame for their poor performances as Hughton was picking them.
I don't blame him for a weakened team, I'd do the same. He just had no answers to a limited United team, Hoolahan had nothing to play with. Crap movement to go with his crap philosophy.
Not a good showing, just as we look like we might be getting somewhere Snoddy gets a really bad injury and that took everything out of us. It's the worst possible out come from a league cup tie, a major injury to an important player and then his obvious replacement in Redmond gets and injury and then Whits has a problem. And we lose 4-0. And it's a bad showing. Just have to hope it isn't too serious, just precautionary with Snoddy, seems like he just got knocked out and hopefully it's nothing more.
I'll let em try, but they will not make me feel stupid. It was not good, but when I saw the starting line up, I never felt any confidence, which is why I wanted to see our 'proper' starting XI, and give it a go. A depressing night, not helped with 1 bad looking injury, and waiting to see how bad the other one is.
If anyone genuinely wished that on Snodgrass that's a little sick. He really hasn't been that bad. One really frustrating thing about our defence is that we keep conceding a very high percentage of goals to shots on target - 4 goals out of 7 on target here, same happens virtually every week. Not sure quite what to make of that.
Wet sham have beaten a very strong Burnley team, top of the Championship away, with 7 changes, so after we negotiate Man city it should be a peice of piss !!
I'd like to see said fans given free tickets by the club to another away game, unlikely to happen though. Appalling performance and the fans still sounded like they were out-singing the Manchester contingent in the 101st minute. I think tonight pretty much every player proved why they are our second string. Not one of the rotation players ever looked like putting in a performance to challenge for their position longer term, with the possible exception of Whittaker going forwards. Johnson is a shadow of his former self, Garrido looked like he'd never seen a winger with pace before, Hoolahan completely anonymous...
So disappointing. Whittaker is the one player who could be brought in. I must admit, it sounds a little bit like we threw this one... Or maybe I really am clutching at straws?
OK, OK, give it a break. We get that you're feeling vindicated. You've got plenty of reason to, but you should be gracious in "victory". I stand by what I've said for a long time now - if we are not clear of the bottom three by the beginning of December, it will be time to move Hughton on.
The problem is when we play well we don't score and win. And when we play bad we get thrashed and don't score either.
If it's playing up like it is my end, when you hit "reply" the browser then asks if you want to stay on the page or leave. Hit leave and it just continues to load the page but not get anywhere. Just navigate away from the site and come back, as soon as you've hit "leave page" your message is already in the database. It's been happening to a lot of people, I've just deleted around 20 posts.
Terrible game, rubbish atmosphere rubbish ref, rubbish football, lack of passion, injuries and crap result. Other than that pretty good performance! Still, wouldn't say CH out because of this result. This was especially bad even for us this season and he did make lots of changes. Yes there are plenty of reasons to be concerned, but still reason to think we can stay up.
