Anyone else find it amusing the management merry -go - round at Villa at the minute?

Some of the names that have been banded about are not the same as those the supporters seem to be expecting <laugh>

The latest being Martinez from Wigan!!!!

As much as I like Martinez I think he's found his limit at Wigan and would struggle with the expectation at Villa. Would still like to see him go there though just to see the fans reaction <laugh>

Who do you think will end up in charge?

My money is still on Mark Hughes

Villa have been granted permission to speak to Martinez, good chance of it being him. Although he could easily stay I guess, especially since Whelan said something about a new contract offer for him.

It's a damn shame that Allardyce went to West Ham.

I think Martinez would be quite good at them. Likes to keep the ball on the deck and that's the style which Villa are best at. I think he deserves his chance at a much better club than Wigan, how he kept them up with that squad is unbelieveable, they're ****e.

Bit harsh on Martinez there, done great keeping a ****e team in the Prem. Top bloke too, I think he'd do well with a bit money behind him.

Spot on! I've just put on HMT's thread that Wigan might be up **** creek if N'Zogbia went, but they definately would be if Martinez left!

I've nothing against Martinez, just get the impression he is better suited to a smaller club with not a very high expectation. He's obviously a great man manager with the way he got the players motivated to keep fighting until the end this season.

But a club like Villa which is slipping into mid table obscurity (much like we did when we went down) need a manger that can aim high and get results but also manage expectation. I think Martinez would fall short of this. Just how I see it.

The thing with Martinez is I think he would take a bit of time to get bedded in and the results would suffer at first. I don't the think the fans would give him the bedding in period he would need and would be on his back from the start. Good manager though, worked miracles to keep Wigan up the last few seasons.

Benitez would have been good for them as well (as in good for us). I think he would have struggled to make anything of that team and without a great deal of money to spend would probably have bombed. That would have been nice :)

Exactly, I've a lot of respect for Roy Hodgson and he worked miracles at Fulham.
But for what ever reason it didn't work at liverpool, but now he's back at West Brom he's flying and made them a good solid team.
Alot of it comes down to supporter expectation and being able to step back and give them time, something who ever goes in to Villa won't have IMO.
I've read on a Villa forum for MON to come back, but they sharp turned on him when he left.

I see them very much like we were before getting relelgated, the expectation is up because they finish so high and looked to be going in the right direction and you think you can get big name managers. But in reality it is a bit delusional and in actual fact they aare slowly sinking.

The diffrence with us now is we went down which was a reality check and now it's a case of let's see what happens and see who we sign. Expectation is back to a respectable level :D

I like Martinez, don't want him to go to the Vile -- saying that though, he deserves a better team than Wigan as stated..

Fat Sam would have been ideal for Villa.

Maybe we can work out a deal for him to manage both teams? Their strips are practically the same so they can even share kits.

In fairness to Martinez he's done the near impossible by keeping Wigan up again. I wish people would stop slating him because they were easily one of the favourites to go down and he's done a great job

Haven't read all the threads yet but I've not seen or heard anybody slate Martinez and I think he's done a good job with what he's had to work with.
