Okay, as many of you already know, I've got a third child on the way and need to get a bigger car. I've narrowed it down to one of two: Ford Focus C-Max (1.6 dti on 04 plate @ £2.5k) or Renualt Scenic (1.5 dti on 09 plate @ £4.5k) Both are cheap tax and very economic. Clearly, there is a £2k price difference but the more expensive one is five years newer and had more "trimmings" such as cruise control. Update: Ford Focus C-Max - £105pa tax (this isn't the actual one but is basically identical) Urban: 44.8 mpg Extra Urban: 68.9 mpg Average: 57.6 mpg Renault Scenic - £125pa tax Urban: 45.6 mpg Extra Urban: 60.1 mpg Average: 54.3 mpg
my serious advice is as follows. 2 babies, 2 older right so i kind of know what the F i am talking about I bought the missus a vauxhall zafira. my issues. i regret buy that damned car.... why its a wallowy beast with a bad feeling and you know what the boot is tiny with all seats up. A "c" anything or these taller cars are however a load of bollox. seriously all you are paying for is small head room. If you go buy the right car seats (narrow fitting) it is possible to fit 3 seats into a saloon car... example a ford mondeo so you retain your boot space. now that all said.... the one good thing about the wallowing beast is that with all seats in the back down you can fit anything. I put a king size bed, a wardrobe, couches and all sorts in there. Its up to you but just think about the saloons or the station wagons again and look at the car seats that's my piece anyway...... oh and a 1.5 diesel? isn't that underpowered really?
also fantastic point. Renault cost a bomb to get anything fixed. I can at least go do my own with the zafira.
Based on the interior/exterior of the cars, I'd go for the focus mate. But if the newer car is going to be more reliable then surely it'll be worth it in the long run? It is more expensive but if you have problems with the older car then you could end up having to fork out more than 2 grand to pay for it anyway. I suppose the same could be said for the Renault, it's just less likely to happen. So Renault for me, but both are nice cars.
I voted for the Ford. Partly because we've nicknamed Coutinho Ford, but mainly because the other is ****ing french. It is therefore **** and stinks
You see, out of the two the Scenic is definitely the nicer car. But whats making me hesitate is what a few on here have said... its French! I like the Coutinho / Ford point
I had thought about this myself already TBH. However, my current car (which is a Toyota Avensis 1.8 T4) is dying. The cats bust and the clutch is going, that's a grands worth of work right there. Thought I'd trade it in before having to fork out. Sure, these have less power but I am thinking in running cost terms more than powerful as **** terms
What's the mileage on the Ford? If there's still plenty of life left in it then it's gonna be a better bet than the Renault which will eventually give you bother. Nice when they're new but definitely more unreliable in the long run. Anyways, where's the ****in' German cars??? RACIST!!!
I bought my VW Touran TDI for £5000 and it's great and also handles well and flies when needed. (For a people carrier that is) I would take a look if the price is within your range.
Ah so the plate is from 2004 but what about the car? Not a bad price for the 2009, I have a Buick Verano in the year of our lord 2013. Not big enough for multiple kids though.
