With the Ballon d'or coming up, below is the shortlist for players and coaches:

    Ballon d'Or shortlist:
    Gareth Bale (Real Madrid/Wales)
    Edinson Cavani (Paris St Germain/Uruguay)
    Radamel Falcao (Monaco/Colombia)
    Eden Hazard (Chelsea/Belgium)
    Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris St Germain/Sweden)
    Andres Iniesta (Barcelona/Spain)
    Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich/Germany)
    Robert Lewandowski (Borussia Dortmund/Poland)
    Lionel Messi (Barcelona/Argentina)
    Thomas Mueller (Bayern Munich/Germany)
    Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich/Germany)
    Neymar (Barcelona/Brazil)
    Mesut Ozil (Arsenal/Germany)
    Andrea Pirlo (Juventus/Italy)
    Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich/France)
    Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich/Netherlands)
    Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid/Portugal)
    Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich/Germany)
    Luis Suarez (Liverpool/Uruguay)
    Thiago Silva (Paris St Germain/Brazil)
    Yaya Toure (Manchester City/Ivory Coast)
    Robin van Persie (Manchester United/Netherlands)
    Xavi (Barcelona/Spain).

    Coach of the year shortlist:
Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid/ex-Paris St Germain)
    Rafael Benitez (Napoli/ex-Chelsea)
    Antonio Conte (Juventus)
    Vicente Del Bosque (Spain)
    Sir Alex Ferguson (ex-Manchester United)
    Jupp Heynckes (ex-Bayern Munich)
    Jurgen Klopp (Borussia Dortmund)
    Jose Mourinho (Chelsea/ex-Real Madrid)
    Luiz Felipe Scolari (Brazil)
    Arsene Wenger (Arsenal).

Was anyone left off? Who will be the top 3? Which coach should get it ( really should be Heynckes but you never know).

Coach of the year should go to Jupp Heynckes ... incredible achievement.

Not sure why Arsene Wenger is on there? If he is, then so should be Diego Simeone - worked wonders at Atletico Madrid.

Heard this morning a guy from talksport say Bale should be 3rd behidn Messi and Ronaldo........ <doh> <doh> <doh>

Didn't have the stats Suarez, RVP, or Mata had and got his team to Europa. Not sure how that enables him 3rd ahead of the likes of Ribery for example.

I dont know mate, the whole thing doesnt really float my boat to be fair

It gets boring because same thing happens each year, they're obv the best but its all a bit to glitzy for my liking, the same reason I hate X Factor and Dancing on whatever. Always have always will

    Yet you commented. <ok>

It is a bit glitzy, but always find the person people think should be 3rd as a good bit of debate. The way Zlatan is playing, he could well be no.1 right now. That man is on fire at the moment.

Well Suarez should be in for no 3?

Zlatan is doing it in the French league, great player but is that much of a test for a world class player?

My money's on Gonzo to win Le Ballon Rouge <whistle>

Got to be a Bayern player this year surely. Got to say when I watched them last season Robben was playing fabulous footy AND working hard too <ok>

Seeing Bale on the list made me chuckle.

What the hell Wenger down on the list for? Wonder if Fergie will win it just because he's retired similar to how Giggs won the SPOTY award a few years back just for being old <doh>

Bit more open for the players imo; Ronaldo and Messi aren't shoe ins this time around. Shouldn't be any of the PL based ones though, they were **** overall in (or not in) Europe.

Edit. Also Del Bosque? What did he do of any worth last year? He's just there as standard entry now.

It'll be Messi, then Ronaldo then someone else that no one really remembers anyway as the headline will be about Messi wining it for the 5th straight year.

Bayern's old coach has to win it after winning the treble. What has Wenger done to warrant being on that list? Got his team to the CL again? WEll plenty of managers have done that last season with worse teams.

This video shows clearly the respect and consideration that FIFA has for me, for my club and my country. Much is explained now. I wish Mr. Blatter health and a long life, with the certainty that he will continue to witness, as he deserves, the successes of his favourite teams and players.
