I didn't say they were AVB's comments word for word, otherwise I'd have put them in quotation marks but the general thread of his interview was that he said your fans were crap. Personally, when our lot have been less than supportive, Wenger will come out and say that he understands the frustrations of the fans and that the team must do better. I think you're on dangerous ground when you start slagging off your own fans. After all, having seeing AVB spend so much money, they should expect more than the dross that's being served up.
http://www.theguardian.com/football...tenham-fans-andre-villas-boas-white-hart-lane This an interesting take from a Spurs regular.
I think it's interesting that Spurs fans now have greater expectations from their team and are beginning to suffer from some of the same issues that fans from a lot of the big clubs have faced. Some spurs fans have used it as a form of cheap wummery when Arsenal fans have booed, criticised or generally been quite frustrated with the team, but I think now they are beginning to realise that with the added expectation, comes the added frustration when the team don't perform. They used to have a sort of camaradarie that united them behind the team come what may, in a kind of 'we're crap, but we know we're crap' sort of way. The odd victory against the big teams was celebrated as a mark of how far they had come and an example of their progress, but overall they knew they would fall short and so the fans were never too harsh on the team or manager when inevitably they fell at the final hurdle. But now the expectation is that they should be up there with the big teams - and having sacked Redknapp and spent a whopping hundred million in one transfer window, they should be doing better. To be honest a few dodgy penalties have papered over what looks like a very average, albeit expensively assembled team. I think the boos and criticism might be something that spurs fans have to start getting used to. As for AVB, it's up to him to get his expensive players performing, not slagging off fans who are simply expressing their frustrations.
That's not why we mocked Arsenal fans, we mocked you cos you are crap. I was watching a few weeks ago when you were winning against Stoke and going top of the league, yet still barely a peep out of the crowd. The atmosphere has definitely gone downhill over the last few years but at least we're still capable of making a good noise
Maybe you should've watched our game against you back in August when our atmosphere was one of the greatest ever, ;-), barely heard a peep out of the Spurs fans all game.
I agree with AVB that the spurs fans are ****, its been a well known fact for years, now there own manager has confirmed it
We're crap from time to time I know. You broke out into "Arsenal, Arsenal" at one point in the second half but it certainly didn't sound like you were going top of the league. At least we have the excuse that the football's not been exciting, you guys are having it all your own way but still can't manage to create a good atmosphere. I don't think he needed to compare us to you lot. He spoke out to give the fans a kick up the arse, he didn't want to offend everyone by comparing us to Arsenal fans
Watched quite a few Arsenal games recently and tbf, the support is rubbish. "Arsenal....Arsenal.....Arsenal..." Or "na na na Giroud..." is about all I hear.
At a lot of the big clubs atmosphere has gone downhill but that's the price you pay for success. Before City won the title the Etihad was one of the best atmospheres I've encountered in this country but it seems to have gone downhill. Similarly the atmosphere at Chelsea was far far better before we won the league title. The same applies for Liverpool/United and it's largely down toe ticket prices as well as PNP said. If people spent more time focusing on the universal issue of ticket pricing and atmosphere rather than point scoring then everybody would feel the benefits.
Not really, if you look at my other posts you will see i'm not a wum. I actually listen out for Gooner singing since it is widely known that you guys are quiet, hence the Library nickname given to your previous stadium + I find songs/chanting etc interesting. However I rarely hear more than those two songs of late. What other songs do you guys sing? I've heard the "good to be a gooner" being sung in pubs before, does that make it to the terraces?

I thought the bit where Bale threw himself to the ground and then rolled around like he'd been shot should have been set to the Benny Hill theme tune. Funny watching Freund doing his best to re-enact Bale's dive to in that video, when he's crawling along on his knees Good old Alan Sugar, wumming his own fans. Seems that AVB is taking up the mantle now by telling them how crap they are.
