Back-to-back defeats against Sunderland for the first time since 1980. Another record Alan Pardew has on his CV.
Normally, of course, people do not punch horses. When a football fan does, a logical assumption is that it would be the most embarrassing moment of his club's season.

    But that wasn't the case.

Perhaps it was the 3-0 loss to Sunderland, our heaviest top-flight derby defeat since 1966.
To me it was the 6-0 thrashing by Liverpool, statistically our worst result at home for 87 years. The worst Newcastle performance I have EVER seen, and I made my first visit to St James' Park back in 1967.
I made my mind up on April 27th 2013 (Newcastle 0 Liverpool 6) that Alan Pardew was the WORST Newcastle manager I had ever seen at the club, even worse than Dinnis, McGarry, Lee and yes ... even Joe Kinnear ... although that was a very close call.
He hasn't got a clue about tactics and dead-ball kicks; he has this weird belief that everything French is in fashion; and his Mike Ashley arse-kissing ... well, the less said the better.
So many Pardew quotes defy belief.
There was the one last season: "We need two games a week because I can only pick 11 players." Only to backtrack seven days later: "European games are killing our season, and Europe is well down my list of priorities, far too many games."
We haven't scored from a corner in TWO YEARS and last month Pardew said: "We don't have tall strikers and that is a problem with corner kicks, but perhaps we should work on them."
    Suggesting they don't!
Man Utd scored from 17 corners last season, and are Rooney and Van Persie tall? No ... they just WORK on corners!
Then Pardew said after Benfica knocked us out of Europe: "Thank God we don't have Europe next season!",then at the start of this campaign: "I can see us pushing for Europe this season."
And now he refuses to talk to the Chronicle and the Journal.
It seems the last throws of a desperate man.
But Ashley won't sack him. They are 'digging in' together (along with Kinnear) with a siege mentality to show the Geordie public they won't get one over on them Cocknies!
It's going to be a very strange season.

Glad to see someone is actually listing the facts, time for change for top to bottom of the club, because whilst we probably won't get relegated this year we are in trouble and this is going to be the norm for a while.

It's been a while since i've seen a picture of Roy Castle!

There is no chance, no matter how many hypocritical statements he makes, that Pardew will get sacked.

Results dictate everything and if you can keep your job after those two home hammerings, then you're pretty much guaranteed as safe. <ok>

If we slip into the relegation places then Joe Kinnear will get a chance... looking forward to that! <doh>

I don't class this as back to back wins,
especially when they are in different seasons

When I read this, and the poster said they had been visiting St. James' Park since 1967, I gave some credence to his opinion that the 6-0 was the worst EVER performance he'd witnessed.

And then he said Pardew was the worst manager in that time. Absolute RUBBISH!

Do you remember one of the reasons why we lost 3-0 to Sunderland last season? Because we were playing Benfica...in the quarter-finals...of a European competition.
The season before, Pardew, YES PARDEW!, managed to steer us to 5th, which included us sitting ahead of the Champions League winners by the way. We were in contention for a Champions League place up until the last half an hour of the season.

How, HOW can Pardew be viewed as worse than managers that not only did not get us Europe, but also contributed to relegations?

Is Pardew worse than Souness, Roeder, Kinnear or Gullit? No, and it is absolutely ridiculous to say otherwise. He is a solid Premier League manager. He may not be doing brilliantly, but he is not the worst manager to take the reigns at Newcastle United. Not by a long shot.

Really? We have played far worse than that! Birmingham in the cup is the main one that springs to mind as does a crappy draw against Swindon town in the late 80's very early 90's if I recall. Plus under Charlton we played some dire football!

That is the emotional guff you get in the aftermath of a derby. Zero perspective. Zero perception of where we are as a club right now.
