The point is these players have the experience and knowledge to cope with derbies, no doubt you didn't notice him get tactically out done again but would be quick to tell us after Liverpool how he got it spot on which he did, even though Rodgers got it badly wrong that day.

 

Don't get me wrong, Pards did get it wrong tactically to begin with. That was clear. He also reacted to it and changed it which helped us. His subs were poor, he had a bad day. Was it the reason for defeat though? Not for me. They were so poor that all needed was a bit of mental fortitude and ability to create in a pressurised situation. We crumbled.

As for Liverpool of course Pards got it right. Rodgers was outfoxed. He stuck to his same tactics and Pards found a smart way round it.

Being balanced he got Liverpool right and Sunderland wrong. Against Liverpool his tactics combined with effort got us a good point. Against Sunderland his tactics combined with a complete lack of effort cost us. I just feel tactics played more part in the Liverpool game than they do in a derby. We forgot the minimum in any game - effort/bottle

 

To be fair the only thing I disagree with is tactics played more of a part against Liverpool, for the simple fact that Yanga-Mbwia getting sent off also had an effect on the game, as many pointed out 11 v 11 we'd have won that match.

Just watched Watford against Brighton...based on the Watford performance we could do a lot worse than Zola.

Watford played it on the deck, had a good tempo about them and even though they were the away team they pushed for a winner right until the last kick.

There are options out there that would be interested in managing us.
