As much as I am flattered by the apparent interest from the Irish FA in myself for the vacant international manager's job, a job that I have made no secret that I would at some stage in my career fancy another crack at.
I would like to state that at this stage in my career it is not the right time.
I am approaching my first full year in charge at ITFC and along with my coaching team we are trying to build this club back up to challenge for promotion over the coming seasons.
It is always nice to be linked with this type of position, a position that some time in the future I would be interested in but at this time my duties & commitment lie with ITFC.

Regards,

MM.

Now how difficult is that.?

Hoppers I don't actually expect that. All I would expect is:

While I've made no secret of my interest in managing Ireland again one day, I have had no contact with the FAI or their people. Until suchtime as there is a concrete job offer I remain committed as manager of Ipswich Town. We have a great group of lads here now and we've steadied the ship. I have a contract here until 2015 and although you never know what's around the corner my focus is on getting the players ready for Barnsley on Friday and consolidating our league position between now and the end of the season.

Instead we get: Ha ha ha. Ireland's situation is still the same, just over the sea from Liverpool.

For me it isn't really a surprise that he hasn't ruled himself out of the running.. and if he wants the job then why should he?!

You can make a statement without 100% ruling yourself out of the running... and I have to agree Hampy with your draft statement... it is all that is needed and would suppress a lot of unease. I respect Mick and he seems to be professional in everything he does but he could have handled this better so far and regardless of the professionalism I am certain that it has/will be affecting the players, coaches, staff etc.

For me, the biggest problem is that its all rumours and gossip as far as I can see.
The Irish FA havent asked to speak to MM, He hasnt really commented one way or the other. We praised this stance over the summer when signings just appeared rather than have 3 months of newspaper chat then miss out on someone or pay over the top because other clubs became aware.
Every other day there are stories of 'meetings tomorrow' or 'job guarantees' The most recent one for yesterdays meeting was described by MM as rubbish (in rather more colourful language!) Our MD has been interviewed and said that on his last conversation MM had said he was happy to stay so I cant see why he should have to defend himself on a daily basis. Why should he rule himself out. I reckon every single one of us would be interested in meeting another company if we were head hunted, regardless of whether we had any intentions of going or not.
If someone can find a true link to any meeting/ approach then I will probably change my view but MM just appears to stay well away from heresay regardless of whether its a potential signing or over his own future.

To me Hampy's statement is bang on on what is needed at this moment, instead of the laughing taking the piss, just make it clear and concise, thats all that is asked.

I wouldn't blame Mick if he wanted the job, and he would go with my best wishes, I just want Ipswich town football club to be at the forefront of his thinking.

Wouldn't like to see him go, has done a good job for us. Not many managers could have got us out of the hole we were in last season. However fail to see why he would want to leave a challenging job, for one where he might play only friendlies in an entire year, don't see the sense, its like a player in our league, at the peak of their powers leaving to play in the conference

Not sure its significant, but Ray Houghton also works for Talk Radio, and is on the committee to find a new manager for the Republic, suppose its possible he could have given some inside information to Brazil

We don't need Alan Brazil to tell us McCarthy is the primary contender.

I do like funny press conferences, when there's wit rather than idiocy.

If they can get MON that would be quite a coup for the FAI.

Fingers crossed for a win tonight either way.

I thought you were a bit brighter than that Warky <doh>

Shall we wait until the FAI make an announcement before we proclaim ourselves to be out of the woods?

Or shall we go with speculation based on betting instead?

Friday’s referee is former Premier League official Andy D’Urso from Billericay in Essex, who has shown 37 yellow cards and two red in 11 games so far this season.

That's us fooked then! <yikes>
