QPR boss reveals stance on ex-Chelsea midfielder 28 Oct 2013 07:00 Harry unconvinced he needs another midfielder at the moment Share on print Share on email QPR manager Harry Redknapp QPR manager Harry Redknapp HARRY Redknapp admits he is lukewarm over signing Yossi Benayoun â when and if the former Champions League winner shows up for a QPR trial. The manager admits he took a call offering the 33-year-old former Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder, but reckons he is currently overloaded in the middle third of the pitch. Benayoun has been without a club since he left Stamford Bridge in the summer, and is reportedly keen to join a club headed to the Premier League. But it would need a spate of injuries to tempt Harry to bid for the man who shares Israel's most appearances for his country with 94 caps. The manager said: âSomeone rang me about a week ago about him and I said I would be interested in having a look at him, but never heard no more. âBut heâs very similar to what weâve got here. If you get injuries, you never know, do you?â
So his agent is touting him around and all of a sudden he's been training with us and is on the verge of signing. Correct 'Arry, very similar to what we've got.
Might be part of the signing dance, story he's going to sign, Harry says he's lukewarm to push the wages down etc etc...
Get a decent goalscorer first!!. No chance in hell of Austin getting anything, being so isolated and full backs unwilling or ordered to stay back.
Its not austin, its the tactics. We could have RVP up front and hed struggle to make it into double figures for the season.
According to the Mirror, Harry and Benayoun have verbally agreed a two-year deal... this from the BBC Sport Gossip page. Personally, I wouldn't take him. If there was anyone around that we should be making a move for, given our tactics and abilities, it'd be Peter Crouch. We seem to be playing the ball around until someone gets nervous, and then hoof it into the area, expecting Austin to chase it down, and that's not his forte. We need a skillful, holding striker that can knock the ball down and is good with head and feet. For me, Crouch fits the bill perfectly - if we can persuade Hughes to let him go in January.
It makes no sense, especially for 2 years. our tactics are that of a relegation candidate, it makes Kranjcar look invisible so it will make Benayoun look the same. We require fast Hoilett type players if we are going to continue to leave Austin so isolated. Kranjcar type players are needed when we are camped in the opposition half and need something special to open the other team up.
