He was 100% brought down. The defender landed on his heel, you can see it pretty clearly. I was with you on first instinct, that he went down to get him booked, but on replay, it was clear that the defender landed on him.
As I said above, I'm not convinced there was any contact having seen it a few times. It looks like one of those where he's goalside of the defender so he knows he can go down and with the defender behind him it will always be a free kick.
At first sight I actually thought the defender stretched out to bring him down but after seeing the replays it was clear as glass he just tumbled and fell on to his ankle. Touch of fortune for the spurs defender despite getting booked, Yannick would have been in one hell of a position with almost half the pitch to himself to work in.
It looked like he landed on his heel when I watched it. It would be a bit daft if Sagbo did go down to get him booked, he had a run on goal and it would never be a red.
Saw that Sagbo was way over on the left side. He needed to be much nearer the center. Someone else said after the Everton game that he needed to get in the box more.
I think he feels like he's more of a CF - sitting deeper than a striker and playing off him. Thing is, we don't have a decent striker!
I suspect Sunderland will keep DG in January if they are still struggling anyway. Hopefully Prossie, McLean and Fryatt will be moved on (loan or permanently) so we have more funds freed up for another striker.
I think its more a case of will Sagbo come good and be our Benteke or Demba Ba (cheaky loan offer in Jan??), or do we need to splash the cash on a proven scorer to fire us to mid table obscurity.
Sagbo has looked great in that striking role. Much better than when Bruce deploys him on the wing as you can tell he doesn't want to be there. He's strong, reads the game and doesn't look to be lacking confidence. If anything, he looks as though he's really relishing the challenge of the Premier League. He's definitely looked better than Graham has, though I'm not writing Graham off just yet.
I thought exactly the same thing when I saw that goal. Our players never seem to get far enough forward and don't seem to anticipate the cross coming in. The amount of times this season already that we've had great crosses along the edge of the six yard box going begging is criminal!
You're all bandwagon fans. I and only I predicted he was gonna be more than decent while 95% were creaming over Graham for god knows what reason (British? white? ) I should be a scout for city.
