Nonono, not getting rid, give the back up QB a chance in the last couple of games. Give Roethlisberger some rest, and maybe there is something, we've seen it happen a lot of times this year. Vick, Ponder, Sanchez, Bills getting rid of Fitzpatrick, Weeden at Browns. Loads of QB changes all in different circumstances. I'm not saying the Steelers should just straight sack him. Maybe Roethlisberger should move to a different team, could be refreshing, look at Manning for instance.

The backup QB? Great, Bruce Gradkowski and Landry Jones can battle it out in a "who can be the most ****" competition. Vick and Ponder were sat because they got injured (Ponder is a sack of **** anyway), Sanchez, Fitzpatrick and Weeden were all sat because they've never been any good. Roethlisberger has been among the best QBs in the NFL for years, and now he's not having a great (but, you know, not bad) year you're suggesting to ship him off? The circumstances are entirely different. I'd like to see any QB in the NFL do much better than Roethlisberger behind that OL.

And refreshing for Manning? You say that as if he was bad for Colts and needed a fresh start?! No, surely nobody would ever say that? But then, you did suggest this should be Tom Brady's last year which might be among the most ridiculous things ever said.

If you don't give em a chance you'll never find out. And don't put words in my mouth, I said It'd might be refreshing for him to start over somewhere else. Manning went to the after his injury Broncos and looks pretty happy out there and still playing brilliant football at the age of 38, you can't say moving to the Broncos made him worse can you? With refreshing I meant new environment, new staff, new players etc.

Oh man...the very notion of replacing Rothlisberger with Jones or Gradkowski is just ridiculous. Roethlisberger is among the finest QBs in the league right now. As has been mentioned earlier, the O-Line is terrible. But also, the run game isn't great, and since Mike Wallace left, there is very little to shout about in the receiving corps. You will be hard pressed to find a QB who can do a better job in the circumstances.

I'm pretty sure Dan wasn't trying to put words in your mouth at all. The Manning situation was different to what is happening in Pittsburgh. Who was to know he would put up the numbers he has done after his neck surgery? He was 36 years old for crying out loud, there was just as much chance of him flopping badly. Hell as it is, he still has one of the weakest arms in the league. And to that end, who wasn't going to go after the greatest QB prospect since Manning or Elway in that upcoming draft?

But clearly you have forgotten the last, like, 13 years of his ****ing career when he's been one of the absolute best players ever. But you know, four dodgy weeks with Julian ****ing Edelmam as literally your best receiver resulting in a few funny gifs clearly overrules the incredible seasons and championship wins he's had.

Also, everything GBS said (and probably a bit more but it's not worth mentioning)

Adrian Peterson is a running back. Cordarrelle Patterson is a wide receiver.

Clearly I needed to, if you think he'll be Peterson's replacement.

He doesn't mean literally position for position....

So we may have lost, but at least we're better than the Jaguars. I think even we could beat them (possibly). Changing quarterback every week possibly doesn't help though.

Fair enough. Anyone else excited to see Trindon Holliday replace Peyton Manning? It'll be almost as fun as when Devin Hester replaced Dick Butkus, Mike Ditka and Walter Payton.

My first move would be to replace Christian Ponder with Samantha Ponder

I'm just annoyed that we aren't playing the Jags this year, is probably the only way we can get first overall pick. Looking at the rest of our schedule we may win 1 more game against the Eagles. This should be enough for a top 3 pick which means we can either get Bridgewater or Mariota, or (more likely) trade down from 3rd and accumulate some picks to try and do a bigger rebuild.

What is more likely to happen as it is the Vikings is we will somehow win about 4 games in total, pick about 8th or 9th, all the best QB prospects are gone and we pick Ponder mk II.

I dunno, there are gonna be quite a few QBs hanging about in the draft next year outside of Bridgewater and Mariota. I'm sure there will be someone who could do better than Ponder.

Hundley, Boyd and Manziel the obvious answers. Then we've got Mettenberger, Carr, Murray, Morris and a few more - it's a good, good draft for QBs, if they all declare (this is very unlikely, obviously: for example, I know Mariota loves college so will probably do an Andrew Luck).
