A thought did cross my mind though, I'm not the first to say it of course, which is that if history repeats itself this time we do need to start looking further up the chain.

How do you know that Mick isn't committed to the cause? Have you asked him or are you merely speculating?

It's not speculating Warky, that means you make a guess at something or put forward a possibility. It's been apparent all season and the change in McCarthy from last season has been tangible. You might put that down to comfort, speculation or even talks behind closed doors about Ireland, being frustrated with resources, or any number of factors but it's certainly happened. <ok>

I would expect that if he was fully committed to the cause that he would have given a clear and concise statement to that effect, same as Brian McDermott and Chris Hughton did for their respective teams...

Of course if he was 100% committed he wouldn't be entertaining the Ireland job at all. Now don't jump on that as me saying he shouldn't be entertaining the Ireland job, but it does serve as proof that his commitment is not absolute.

Have to say I'm not convinced by ME`s intentions for the club either and have had some doubts for a while but he does continue to financially back us despite what some people think.

Look SD, neither you nor JWM are getting any younger, try not to dwell on it.

Yesterday was indeed a dour and hard fought battle with both sides at times playing some dreadful football, everything was pointing towards a goalless draw especially after Tunnicliffe had a tap in saved by the keepers legs. Anderson was his usual ineffective self and Murphy wasnt much better, but they would never have scored if we hadnt given the ball away which resulted in a free kick on the edge of our area which they expertly put away. We came back well and equalised and I have to say that Nouble was in good form battling for everything after he came on, I think most of us thought MM waited too long before bringing on the subs after we went behind because we looked the most likely to go on and win the game.
Theres lots of debate lately about the MM situation and the possible effect on the players and fans with regards to uncertainty, well a steward told me there were about 450 of us Town fans which if true is a terrible turn out for us on a Saturday away match, and I have to say Ive never known Towns travelling fans to be so deathly quiet before Yesterday, its usually a noisy crew from start to finish but Bolton will stick in my memory as the most subdued away match i have ever attended. Unsettling isnt it?

Yep fieldmarshall. I think the disappointing thing was that after last seasons relative heroics I think we all felt we'd turned a corner.

So comfortable mid table as opposed to being rock bottom isn't turning a corner then! <doh>

Couple of years ago we were much higher up the table than this at this point Warky.

We have turned a corner Hampy haven't we? We were close to being cast adrift already this time last season. We're mid table, not getting hammered,in fact holding our own against the favourites for the league. Ok not pulling up daisies but round the corner definately.

Nope mad ads. 2011-12 we were 6th after 12 games and 9th after 13 (where we're up to now). So in terms of league position that is definitely not a step forward. Performance-wise, it is unquestionably a step backwards from last season under Mick.

Yes, we're trying to play proper football this season, squad-wise we're stronger and everything - no-one is arguing about that.
