People were writing off Sagbo before he had played, but in terms of his footballing ability he looks brilliant. He plays with his head up and plays some great little flicks with team mates, hoping he will form a great partnership with Aluko. He could do with some work on his positioning i.e when Rosie fizzed it across but that is something that can be sorted out in training. The finish against Everton along with the one in pre-season gives a good account for his striking ability as well.
I'm glad you've given him a thread - he's a superb footballer & is showing it. Very hard job away at Spurs, so when he did get the ball he did all the right things, showed technique & poise. Very pleased for him after the inconspicious start.
He did well but this is a bit over the top. He did some things well and some things poorly. When that centre half got booked he should have stayed on his feet and might have scored if he did. Getting the defender booked did nothing for us. I've got no time for these foreign lads going down out of choice all the time, especially when he could have scored by playing on and Sagbo is exactly that kind of player. Some good link-up play but Graham has done that too. If Sagbo goes three games withuot scoring everyone will be on his back like they are Graham regardless of how he plays. What I will say is that with those two plus Gedo and Fryatt (maybe) to come in, we've got a much better strike force than we have done for the last few years.
Great footballer, great technique, big, strong and fast, just lacks a bit in his head. Could have been in better positions at times and there's also a few times when I've thought he's done the wrong thing. Looks like he could be the man we've all been crying out for.
Sagbo looked confident and competent on the ball and with more displays like that will make the Striker spot his own this season.Just hope that sticking a few in the net happens for him, if it does Danny Graham can go back and free up a loan spot.
Not saying he was perfect but he still did far more for the team than Graham has done all season. If the striker isn't scoring you have to look at how they help the team and IMO Graham doesn't have a great touch nor great vision/creativity in the way that Sagbo seems to. I am not somebody that criticises a striker for not scoring as long as they add something to the game and I believe Sagbo is a much more useful member of the team.
Agree with that summary really. The French/African lads like Sagbo always seem to be the worst for it. Something about their attitude just means they need to be seen. The South Americans will do anything for an advantage but there's a breed of player like Sagbo who don't even do it to cheat for the team they're just extremely soft on the pitch despite their strength. If you watch an African Cup of Nations game every second touch is a free kick because they're all going down all over the place. They also have a tendency to do stupid things like nutting people for no reason. Think about it, the amount of players from African or French origin who do this is ridiculous. William Gallas sitting in a corner of the pitch in a paddy. They're just mad ****s. I'm probably racist though.
You're not doing your case any favours. Not having a go, but I think the days you can single out foreign players as divers are long gone.
It's an observation. You're not allowed to say it now because everyone is exactly the same apparently but this is what I've noticed. Seriously watch an ACoN match if you can be arsed. People talk about women's football not being entertaining but this is far worse. It's not the standard just the amount of free kicks and stoppages.
You've said that before about this exact topic but I don't see the problem. I'm sure you're not of the pc-brigade view that I can't say there are differences between people of different cultures without being racist so I don't get it.
I understand what you mean, but you can't ignore that fact that it has crept into some of the English lads (Ashley Young).
What part of Africqa is Leighton Baines from?? Dived against us last week. You posted and banged on about how Snoddgrass kept throwing himself to the ground against us for Norwich. West or North African is he??
