Church goes for a bicycle kick from a Pritchard cross, but he doesn't get the right connection on it and it trickles wide.
Looking at our bench we have nothing there to change the game. Looking to Stephens for inspiration. Never thought I would ever say that.
Great run from Powell leads to a scramble in the box, but we just get it clear. Holt off, Fortuné on.
Full time 0-0 Another clean sheet but we're still struggling to score goals. Hope Yann's injury isn't too bad. Look forward to hearing from those who were there.
Finished 0-0. Deserved a point for our effort but rode our luck in the second half. We are going to be battling for points every week unless we can get Solly, Jackson and (especially) Kermorgant fully fit. It is a pity we have to play Sordell and Stewart instead of Pigott and Harriott, but I can see why. The Good Doctor doesn't want them exposed to abuse all the time we are in a relegation struggle.
Last time I do footy for a fiver. Sat in front of two families from hell. Half a dizen kids and their mothers bored rigid and misbehaving. Kicking my seat, screaming and generally being unpleasant ( the kids were even worse). Add to that a game devoid of interest and I'm glad it was only a fiver. Not for me. Sorry.
Just back from the game. The first half was absolutely dire, the second half marginally better. The 10,000 plastics created no atmosphere whatsoever, even the CoveredEnd was relatively muted on the day. Our defending was solid enough, but our offensive play was absolutely woeful. The wind did not help us playing our distinctive brand of Powelly Hoofball, either. Pritchard wide predictably created nothing, and I thought Cameron Jackson gave a Sordell like performance on the other side. Yann went off injured and looked near to tears at half time, lets hope it's not serious. Our lack of goals and lack of creative quality will see us in the Bottom 6 all season.
Agree. Kids sitting all around us....obviously given a fiver by the parents to get out of the house. Spent the entire game on their phones. Queues for the loos and the bar at half time reminded me why I don't like these gimmick games.
Looking at our lack of quality you have to anticipate a relegation struggle this season.Obviously you can't criticise a defense which has kept 3 consecutive clean sheets, but apart from that it's all perspiration and no inspiration. Stephens had another good game, but Cousins seemed to find it hard going against a better class of opponent than he's faced. I know we've got no money, but this type of football is quite difficult to watch. We did make chances but so did Wigan, and their build up was better than ours, maybe not surprising considering their Premier League experience.
Was a bit of a nursery around where I was sitting, forever had a kid kicking the back of my seat which made my afternoon rather irritating will be looking forward to the Leeds match (P.S. thanks though for the slight investment from those who did come though) First Half wasnt much although I felt Charlton could easily have gone into the break in front bar some good defending, second half was really entertaining yet felt a draw was a fair result but was a good performance against the first ex-Premier League side we'll come up against this season. Ratings for me... Hamer: 7 - Made some good saves and was never really threatened, his distribution was a lot better today (when he didnt have an opposition player keeping him company) Wilson: 7 - Didnt notice him much in the first half, great run in the second half though took an age getting back and almost cost the side Morrison: 7.5 - Back on form, was great at the back today Wood: 7 - Will say it again, he keeps it simple and has a good partnership with Morrison, I hope it was a serious injury forcing him off Wiggins: 7.5 - Defended well and did some nice touches, crossing wasnt great but we had no one in the area who could head the ball Stewart: 7 - Works well with Wiggins, likewise with the crossing Stephens: 8 (MOTM) - Another great performance gonna have to be careful what I say here but the lad is finding some consistency Cousins: 6.5 - Didnt have the greatest of games today but there again he was up against experienced Premier League Midfielders so all good for the learning curve Pritchard: 7 - Harried the Wigan players well though probably deserved the Yellow for persistent fouling... Definitely needs some shooting practice Church: 7 - Did his usual 10k today, tried some silly acrobatic shots but I'll always like his effort Kermorgant: 7 - Didnt notice him unfortunately but that was because of the early injury he sustained, hope he wont be out for long Substitutes Sordell: 6.5 - There was an improvement there for me today, wasted a free kick though Dervite: 6.5 - Came on and did the job required of him
