Bloody hell..........God help you when Beth reads that!
You're right...........less leaves is a good thing. No cracks or fungus on the trunk are also good. Not leaning is another good thing, especially not leaning towards your house!!

They're talking about trees and power lines possibly being brought down in the South, so I presume they could well be mate!

I'm trying to guess your job Col:
    Poacher
    Gamekeeper
    Estate Manager
Bloke who looks after pylons ( I am one of the few who thinks a line of pylons snaking over a rugged landscape is beautiful, a stunning feat of engineering)
    Farmer
    Polo coach

    Am I warm?

I've been out and about today with the dog today and its pretty blowy already. I was in a maximum force typhoon in Hong Kong in 1983, and that had to be experienced to be believed. You could see the glass bending in the windows. A mate stayed the night at my place, when we got him back to his 18th floor flat a tiny window had blown in in a bathroom (something to do with air pressure) and his entire flat was flooded with 2 inches of storm water. Back in the 90s we were on holiday in Hilton Head, South Carolina when a big hurricane was forecast. They ordered an evacuation, all the roads were jam packed to get inland, but some locals we met in a bar reckoned all would be ok, and if it did look threatening they would come and get us and take us to a bomb shelter style bar for a lock in. Later they came round and said it was definitely going to miss (they were right) but would we like to come to the bar anyway?

    Poacher!!<laugh>

I'm self employed mate, if that's a clue. None of the above though.
Amongst other things I do some work for the local council (rights of way etc), some work for the RSPB (involving birds of prey) and some private work for myself........amongst other things.

I first read that last line as "...a nice suck" which I guess would've had a calming effect too.

I have this wonderful image of you dressed in your ice hockey top, sitting in your bedroom with your laptop, casting regular and anxious glances at the tree outside, whilst tapping into Google images 'squirrels with large testicles'. Going back to the 'US surveillance' thread, I wonder what the CIA are making of that?

Thankfully its an image I remembered from a few years ago and just typed "squirrel nuts" and it popped up as the 1st result.

I do think the police have monitored me as I got a phone call claiming to be my ISP but there was a clear smell of bacon, ie a north london instead of indian or scottish accent. I wondered why and checked my wifi and found out someone had hacked the password (the device even had a Finish name so I hope it wasnt Igor!). So I changed the password and ID plus his the ID and then added MAC filtering. Hopefully thats good enough to keep him away. Im sure they are still watching now but wont see whatever the other bloke was doing again.

Still, I hope the squirrel gave them a laugh.

What, having a strange phone call, then catching someone on my router at that very point? Completely logical. I dont know how you can say that especially as you dont even know the content of the call which was very suspicious.

Its a good job I was "paranoid" because I could have very well end up banged up because of what someone else was doing.

If you share your views on other forums as well as this one you have every right to suspect that you are being monitored. Even spooks like a laugh from time to time.

So, how is the big storm going for you all?

All calm and dry here. Hardly a breath of wind. I think we escaped the worst of it on this side.
