can I just say I'm not in the we here. I've said Micks not exactly my cup of tea but with the squad we have and funds he's had available, he's done a superb job, there are obviously things we can criticise him about but I certainly don't want him to leave. We certainly aren't going backwards nor does Mick not inspire the team, his man management is his biggest strength. Where I am with you is I don't think he's done himself or us any favours in how he's handling the speculation with regards to the ROI job.
With the news that there is no meeting on Monday we could see this not being resolved for months. We know Ireland don't have a competitive game for a long while. The way the team is performing now I think we could find ourselves in trouble.
Were we indeed "dour,dire awful" because the players are more concerned with what MM is doing. Which in all fairness they should be professional enough to leave that behind for 90 minutes and go get a result against a team we should have beaten. I've said,most of us have said it,the speculation needs to end. ASAP. MM has done a great job so far which the majority of us agree and I'd be more than happy to see him continue. But if,and I say if,he decides to take roi job lets get it out in open now and let the team move on. Lets us as fans move on then start the debate/argument over the new man and why we like/dislike him.
Feel free to speak for yourself but don't claim to be the voice for the majority of Ipswich Town Fans.....you certainly don't speak for me. As for Anderson i think he has been showing improvements in his game from a fairly poor start to his season.
Likewise, you certainly do not speak for me either. We're very very lucky to have a manager of Mick's ability, our first manager with any idea regarding what he is doing since Joe Royle. Holloway would be an absolute disaster for us unless he is going to be heavily backed - McCarthy with the ££££ he's been given is doing a 9/10 job for certain. Anyone who expected us to be much higher up is very unrealistic I'm afraid.
I think most peoples frustration -certainly mine - comes from the fact that from what we've seen in games that there's no reason why we couldn't be further up the league. e.g. Not giving someone with "a knack for putting the ball in the net" on the pitch when we're looking for a goal. Nouble may well help us close a game out (that appears to be Micks justification) but that's no help when were 1-0 down. IMO Mick works to reach the season objective, not surpass it. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it can just be frustrating.
I agree with your points, which is why for me he is such a frustrating manager because you can see he is clearly a capable manager he just never goes out of his comfort zone or take risks and all the best managers do this. As someone else said you get what it says on the tin with Mick and all unpredictability is removed.
Im also not one of Hampys 'growing out brigade' I wish MM would be more ambitious at times but other than that Im happy. Its not always exciting but it his first full season. He has sorted out defence, commitment, workrate, morale and organisation on a next to nothing budget. I hope that he can bring in a right back and add some flair over the next few windows but at present he has done more than I expected. Yeah I have mentioned a few replacement candidates but that is only for if he departs and not because I want him out.
I don't recall saying I was speaking for everyone. I said JWM's blind faith was quickly becoming a minority position, and it is. I have NOT at any point said I want McCarthy to go but I DO want a manager whose heart is in the job and the club and presently on the pitch we are getting dragged down by the farce that is being allowed to unfold. whether you like him or not, the likelihood is that he will be the Ireland manager by next summer and the longer it drags on the more damage it does to our season. Like him or loathe him those are simple facts.
How can simply supporting your manager be labelled as 'Blind Faith'? The facts speak for themselves in what Mick has achieved here in a short space of time! Mick McCarthy is better than what we could have ever dreamed of and if that is blind faith then so be it!
Well that's yet to be seen JWM. he pulled off a miracle last season but if we're relegated this as a result of the nonsense going on then we would probably have been better off going down and coming back up again. It's not as black and white as you love to make out. Certainly we've got a better and more capable team but we could still chuck that away. There is a huge amount of complacency.
Exactly!..I want a manager that bleeds blue and white, a manager fully committed to the cause of ITFC, a manager that would expect any of his players honoured to pull on the blue shirt to go out there and lay his life down, if need be, for the ITFC cause...but unfortunately Mick isn't doing that at the moment, far from it...
I would just like to echo what TB and Westy said and that is that we are slowly improving and are certainly not a top six team yet. Mick has us competing in every match but like many others I do wish he would push the boat out sometimes to try and win instead of accepting a point.
Unfortunately you're probably right, but at the very least I would like our present manager to come out and put to bed this ROI/pikey nonsense, (if nonsense it is...)
I think we need to realise that Mick McCarthy's services will always be in demand and we are not sadly the attractive proposition that we once were!
All I want is a capable manager committed to the cause! Mick's done well so far, but at the end of the day he's no Mourinho, Ferguson, Guardiola, or Klopp, is he?
I think we all knew deep down that Mick will always be highly sought after SD and my fear is that ME didn't keep to his side of the bargain in the summer! Just imagine what team we would have now if Mick was given a couple of Million to spend! It makes my bloody boil when you consider the amount of fecking money he chucked away on funding Keane and Jewell (albeit to a lesser extent)!
