Well I just want to say thanks Darren, good servant to the Swans, think it was inevitable after the bit part role of last season, wonder where he's going ? http://www.swanseacity.net/page/Latest/0,,10354~2373505,00.html
Wow, while it was always possible, I really did believe he´d sign back on. Good luck to him, it´s debatable whether we´d have made it without him, so thanks Darren! What is encouraging for me is Huw saying they´re talking with Angel and Dorus over new deals.
It's been good for the Swans but he had limited game time last season, so would probably have had even less in the coming season. I'm sure Brendan has some very good players lined up. Our first Premier League season looks like it could be quite exciting. Fixtures are out next Friday.
I remember Huw cooze/or jenks saying that the Swans game has moved on from the style of play Darren has. A bit too slow on the ball. But a good physical guy, coud have been useful in the prem
I think you hit the nail on the head there Rhys, his physical precence would have been an asset this season (when needed), good luck to him though wherever he ends up
Rhys is spot on - wwhilst DP's style is slwoer compared to the others there are times when you need that physical edge. Looks like Bolton is nailed on for DP good luck to him and thanks for his contribution in helping us get where we are.
Despite his lack of game time in the Championship, he would arguably have been more useful in the Premiership. With a relatively small midfield he would have provided some balance. But I'm sure Brendan has a replacement lined up, possibly Senna by the sounds of things. Pratley has served us well and I wish him luck in the future!
A bit gutted , thought he'd stay with us after reaching the big show . All the best to Darren & hope he has a great season elsewhere until we face him . Somebody's going to get a good , hard working player . My biggest pet peeve with Pratley was a few times , late in the seasons' , if we needed a big goal , he would get set up beautifully & misfire . Nobody's perfect though , I guess . Cheers Prats !!
One of the fittest guys I've ever seen in a white shirt and I'm very sorry to see him go too! Darren has been a great servant to the club and I was looking forward to seeing him play in the premiership. Now it may be against the Swans rather than for us. Good luck Darren, unless you end up signing for Cardiff of course!
It's a shame he's going he's really come into his own in the last few years with us. Especially since Bodde has been injured. As mentioned above by Rhys his strength could have been useful in the Premiership but I trust Huw and Brendan to bring in a good replacement. HJ didn't rule out Senna which is quite exciting. I won't get to excited but it's nice that we can be realisticly linked with these players!!
Not surprised at this. All his press releases lately have had a tinge of disappointment with regards to his contract situation. Clearly this wasn't as easy for him to decide as it may seem. Good luck to the guy and I'm sure he'll fit into numerous PL teams given the chance. From the League 1 Championship season up until the end of the Sousa season, he was my favourite player along with Leon Britton - those 2 were a formidable force in the midfield no matter who the other midfielder was that made up the 3. Really wish him all the best and I'll never forget how his game-clinching, half way line goal against Forest made me feel!
Yes he deserves our gratitude despite the slightly disappointing way he is going - he clearly decided last season this would be his last year in the Championship and he would be going up with or without us on a better package. Not having been a footballer I can't comment on the rights or wrongs but at 26 he isn't going for his last pay day and I think it would have been reasonable to expect him to stay with us. It is a bit disappointing that he won't be coming up with us after all he has put in but from being our star player in 2009-10 he has become less important. That is an indication either of our progression since coming 7th last year or BRs consideration that he is not quite a PL player. Bit of both. Based on that the suspicion is he would have been even less key to us next season. Puts more pressure on Bodde returning 100% as they are/were the 2 most likely to score from central midfield and despite our Swanselona tag we still need some physical presence there......
We will move on and become a better team without him.....just like we did when Trundle left.....and more recently when RM and PS left. No individual is bigger then the club. He carried out his job with as a true professional and have decided to move on. Good luck to him. Only time will tell if it was the correct decsion.
He would have been more uselful in the premiership as mentioned however he has been a goods servant over the years and I wish him all the best. theres a rumour going around he may be joining the likes of QPR or Bolton.
Well done Prats and thanks for your contribution in taking us from League One to the PL....and yes your last goal at the Liberty was the perfect way to sign off...all the best for the future...
Thought with us reaching the PL he might have signed a new contract but hey ho life goes on and thank him for his years of service and wish him well wherever he goes.
Clearly he hasn't spoken much to Leon. This is a bizarre move. Is it really a question of money or not wanting to compete for a place on the starting line up. We've just been promoted to the best league in the world playing a unique brand of football - how much more of a challenge do you want to be a part of. Still wish him well - this will be one to watch.
The reports seem to suggest that he wasn't offered a new contract, so not really up to him. I think BR has bigger ideas.
