They'll use Gnarby(sp?) as a DM if Arteta and Flamini are both out. I think Arteta can play though as Arsenal play midweek in the cup??
Rodgers has strongly indicated that Coutinho will likely start. Will be interesting to see who drops out, no one really deserves to be dropped!
I thought he was a DM and was utilised when Arteta was sent off. I thought he was their 3rd choice DM - might be wrong though??
Henderson can't be dropped, especially not against an Arsenal midfield of Arteta, Ozil, Ramsey! They'll keep the ball and we'll need his energy if we're going to try and close them down and stop them having so much possession.
Isn't it just a 1 match suspension if you bring down the last man? 3 for violent conduct? Arsenal play Chelsea in the League Cup so that would be 1 match suspension served therefore Arteta will be back for the LFC game. Can anyone confirm?
It'll only be a one game ban because it was a professional foul. It's a three game ban for violent conduct (I think??). Meaning he'll miss the midweek cup tie and be able to play against us... EDIT: Didn't see Jimmy's post above!!
my view on the game we just played is that we saw two things 1. a real 3 in midfield not moses 2. west brom utterly failed to worry our full backs and so they were pressing very far up the pitch and had it easy. i think it was a big tactical failure for west brom and clarke. Thats my thoughts anyway. 5 defenders at home.... thank god for suarez. I sincerely hope the player dropped for coutinho is skertl and not henderson.
Away at the Emirates is the first time that I'd like the back 5 to be payed but in a more defensive formation the full backs will need to be clever and make runs at the right time and not leave gaps, I'd like us to keep it tight and not allow anything through the middle, grabbing a goal through Suarez or Studge is the game plan and making sure that we stop the Gooners playing through the center so I'd keep the same team with Coutinho on the bench if we go a goal down and need to create more.
If we sit back and let Arsenal play then we will lose. We need to get at them, be in their faces and put them under pressure.
I'm not so sure, going at them will leave us exposed a disciplined defensive performance with a high work rate is the key for me, no gaps through the middle and try and grab a goal through our strikers, I wouldn't start with Coutinho in this game. I'm not saying let them play I'm saying stop them playing, but play out from deep quickly 1 or 2 passes and let the front two grab something.
If we stick with the same team then we have three at the back with Lucas and Henderson protecting them, thats more than enough cover to let Studge, Suarez, Gerrard and the WBs get forward.
