TBH I thought from the commentary that it was a bit of a smash and grab. Ask again after the next two matches against 'lower' opposition- As I have said before, I think the players are good enough but still not convinced that they are being told how to best play as a team...
It's about bleddy time aint it. I refuse to get too upbeat after one win. Put it together with the next two and I might just get slightly excited. We've been smash and grabbed more than once this season lyndhurst so sod how it was done. Now is the time for Sheridan to get hold of this lot and make them believe they can beat other teams. Time he earned his corn and proved he is a capable manager that many think he is.
Bleddy hell Sensible i just felt your wrath..sort of melted the mountain snow here..you are right though hopefully Sheridan can get them sorted..
Came home last night from a great day out visiting Broadstairs......breezy but sunny....we walked to Ramsgate and back....had a nice meal and let the train take the strain back home. Nervously checked the Argyle score and it topped a good day....an away win !!! Have since read all the match info plus sparksy on GoS. Well it seems that Dick Turpin was in Mansfield yesterday and has disappeared down the west country to hide. A great three points....but nothing except our luck has changed by what I read. Sheridan has bought himself some leeway to hopefully find a striker who isn't a complete wimp about moving away from the bright city lights. I am concerned that he has been talking as if finding a goalscorer will be all that's required to get Argyle buzzing up the league....I don't think it is the only thing that's required. I don't know what Trotman put in his pre-match meal....but it worked and he was easily man of the match....and also showed the forwards how to score a goal. A mention also for McCormick who helped stem the Mansfield goal threat all match....definately the best goal keeper in Div 2. In previous seasons our defence has kept us in the league, that is happening so far this season....but we are scoring even less goals than previously. In fact we, with Charlton and Yeovil are the lowest Sky Bet league scorers with a measly 9 goals this season. What does that say about the mid-fields ability to provide the chances for the strikers and to score themselves......yesterday a defender had to show them how....one good moment from Hourihane to supply the free kick......but what else did he do.....okay Hourihane isn't my favourite player but he did wake up for one golden moment so good for him. PS......interesting that low scoring Yeovil are not clammering to get Reid back....says a lot that doesn't it ?
Take the 3 points and no matter how we got them!! Hope fully the luck is changing, lets hope we can get a winning streak going. It won't take much to move us up the table as every body is beating each pother it seems, the league is wide open.. I still think we will be in with a shout come May!! ok, have a go at me now
One of the websites I checked on was....Vital Plymouth Argyle.....who said, " that the men wearing green stuck to their task"......mmmmmm....problem was that they were wearing poncy blue.....reporter score 2/10 for turning up....I assume he/she did actually turn up ???
I don't think the reporters do half the time plym. I've been to matches before and read an account afterwards and don't even recognise the match let alone the events. The thing is that it is very feasible that Argyle could be there or there abouts this season even now with this crap play. The other teams haven't been all that either so far and as you say joe, teams are losing to other teams when league position doesn't suggest it. I am angry BC and in my view rightly so. Plenty of us have stuck by this club though thin and thinner paying hard cash in the process for the last 6 seasons of total dross. I have every right to expect more for my money and in my opinion more from the owner and the manager and not least the players. It's all well and good playing the adversity card along with backs to the wall mentality but there comes a time when the goodwill runs thin. I've done my bit along with 6 to 7000 others and if I had any sense at all would pack it in as a lost cause. Good job I haven't got any but it doesn't stop me being angry. I deserve to be angry because I've earned the right.
There is nothing between the teams in this league, all we need to do is get on a run, get some confidence installed in the players and keep to a system... simple!! I can't see any team running away with this league! We will be there or thereabouts come May!!
BC I don't know how long you've been an Argyle fan but don't you know better than to say "surely we can beat..XXX"? We are quite capable of beating Oxford United 4-0 away and then losing to Accrington, Northampton and Torquay at home in quick succession. There's no "surely" about and there hasn't been since 2004!
