    Rules
    1. At the start of the competition you will have a bank of £1,000 to bet as you like throughout the meeting on any of the televised races (including BBCi)
    2. You may only bet with money remaining in the bank
    3. You may lay each others' bets but the offer must be clearly stated in this thread and the offer must be accepted in this thread. Once the offer is made it must be accepted unless withdrawn in this thread before any acceptance has been posted in this thread. The offer may only be made if the remaining bank is sufficient to cover the liability
    4. Bets may be single or multiples, win, ew, ew all in, or place only
    5. All bets must bear the name of the horse(s) and the race
    6. If the named horse does not run in the named race it will be deemed a NR (ie the stake will not automatically be placed on the same horse if it runs in a subsequent race)
    7. If a bet is made on a horse not in a televised race the bet will be void
    8. Bets will be permitted at the best available odds* and must be clearly stated along with the selection. All available Tote bets will be permitted in which case returns will be as stated on the Racing Post site. Otherwise all odds will be deemed SP as stated on the Racing Post site.
    9. Ante post bets will be permitted but the available bank must be reduced by the stake at the time the bet is placed and the odds must be clearly stated
    10. All bets to be advised, on this thread at least 5 mins before the relevant race
    11. For the purposes of this competition all place bets will be at 1/4 odds and will apply as follows:
    • 2-4 runners No place betting allowed
    • 5-7 runners 1st and 2nd one quarter the odds
    • 8+ runners 1st, 2nd and 3rd one quarter odds
    • Handicaps 16+ runners 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th one quarter odds
Number of runners for determining odds will be the number that came under starters orders regardless of whether or not they took part
    12. If any doubt the result posted in the Racing Post will be final.

    * To avoid complication, "best available odds" are only available up to mid day on the day of the race and must be available from 1 or more of the following (as shown on the ATR site above individual races):
    Ladbrokes
    Victor Chandler
    Bet 365
    Coral
    Paddy Power
    Boyle Sports
    888sport
    Stan James
    SkyBet
    Blue Square
    William Hill

Entry to the competition is dependent on having declared your interest before the first race in the competition. Except latecomers will be able to join in before the start of any day's racing but will be deemed to have lost £200 for each day's racing missed.

To help, here is a link to the ATR Royal Ascot Megasite including video previews:

    Thanks Ron,

Just one suggestion. I don't think it will be such a good idea to have best available odds / antepost. The problem is going to be difficult to verify everyone's quoted prices especially from a obsure/unknown bookmaker offering x or y odds. I think it's best settled at SP.

I'm not sure about the laying either...

    Upto you Ron.

I ran a challenge with Mick on 606 using available odds and ante post and it worked fine. Just put the bookmaker and the odds. I'll list out the Bookmakers that can be used, for clarification. I think we are all trustworthy enough to quote available odds. The laying is a new idea that I haven't seen in any other comp so I thought it would be worth a try. Not many will use it but it gives a chance to those with totally differing views on a horse to "put their money where their mouth is" so to speak.

I want it to be as flexible as possible and to provide the option to take an early price. Maybe I'll refine the available odds to "this option is only available until mid day on the day of the race". Can't go quite as far as effectively looking round for the best price just before the off; maybe that's what you were concerned about, in which case I agree. I'll update the Rules tonight to take account of any other comments also.

Ron can you please post the televised races each day. Some of us have no idea which will be on tv.
