Hemel play Sutton in the FA Cup 4th qualifying round tomorrow so 'orns fans with nothing to do could do worse than support the Tudors who are flying - 9 wins from 11 this year. Leverstock Green are struggling and next Saturday have free admission to all, so after the Leicester early KO, get in your firey chariot and go to Pancake Lane. They really need your support. So who are the local teams in Cologne, Mex, Norway, France, Bandit Country and whichever Highland League team Bolton selects....?????
The local team for me is Chateauroux,( if you exclude the small village teams) although they are fifty miles away. Chateauroux play in the French 2nd division the equal of the Championship, and in their whole history only made it to the top league for one season. The stadium is a 17,000 council owned sports centre but the average attendance this season is 4,700. Not having a happy time this season being in the relegation places at present, and don't expect them to do that well tonight away to Nimes. Most of the 2nd division games are played on a Friday night, ko in the next couple of minutes here. In January and February games are played earlier in the evening due to the cold with frozen pitches.
You can watch this game on: http://firstrownow.eu/watch/216526/1/watch-nimes-olympique-vs-berrichonne-de-chateauroux.html All of the crowd noise, but no commentary is pretty strange.
My local team is Deveronvale - seen here dumping Linlithgow Rose out of the Scottish Cup two weeks ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOA-nFFp9hE They're away to Brora Rangers tomorrow - league leaders with 100% record so I'm not expecting much, Meanwhile, I will be glued to the Beeb watching the Rugby League World Cup opener. After losing to Italy last week, I'm not expecting much from England either - a 30 or 40 point caning from Australia probably.
Actually situated way out in the sticks near Engelskirchen, which is about 25 miles (40 km) directly east of Cologne. Sometimes go to watch F.C. Cologne who are currently joint top of the German 2nd division (they've been rotating between the first and second for quite some time now). In the past they were a lot more successfull than now (they were the first winners of the 1 Bundesliga) and still have the support base of a big club - stadium for 50,000 and average crowds of 45,000, so they don't really need my support. Other than that the other clubs in Cologne, Fortuna Köln and Viktoria Köln 1904 are both in the regional league west. Closest to me geographically are Bergisch Gladbach and Wuppertal who also play only regional football - SV Wuppertal I have seen on quite a few occasions and very much like the town and the club. Having said that, despite my user name, my German club (if I have one) is St.Pauli because, prior to moving here, I lived in Hamburg for 19 years and still feel more emotional connection to there than to where I am now.
Listening to Radio 5 at the moment and it's taken them about 30 minutes to get to discussing the actual game (Australia for crying out loud - it's not PNG) rather than the dropping of players
My local team is Melchester Athletic, poor relations of the famous Rovers (Roy used to play for them). They are in the Westhamptonshire County League and have just lost to Norford Town (3-1) and Drumingham Albion (2-0), so I don't expect them to do particularly well against Midsomer County tomorrow. But you never know.....
You don't have to guess who my local "team" is here in bandit country...but unless we were playing there. I would rather thrust red-hot needles down my japs eye than go and watch that filth...I would love to pop over to Vauxhall Road tomorrow to watch 'emel - been years since I have been over there, but I hope they get through and get the tramps in the next round. Not been to Pancake Lane for years either, few beers in The Leather Bottle and The White Horse after - happy days
Stirling Albion or the Binos as they are called appropriately. Never been as the few times I have been to watch a Scottish football match it's been tedious in the extreme. I think they are in the second division and have struggled to pay their rent to the council and were nearly evicted recently. Alloa, Falkirk, Stenhousemuir and St Johnstone (patron St of Scottish football?) are within striking distance. Could go down the local park of course.
Los Gallos Blancos de Queretaro. But to be fair I hardly ever go, recently Queretaro went down a league and just bought another team,Chiapas, so that they could stay up. To me this is just absurd so not even worth giving the league too much respect here, although there are some good players and games on T.V. sometimes. http://www.clubqueretaro.com/gallos/
My local team here in France is Angoulême, which used to be in the national divisions but has now sunk rather low... I went a few times in the 90s, some good cup ties, and we also had a certain Marc-Antoine Fortuné who started his career here in Charente. Some people go to watch Niort, but most locals support Bordeaux or, inevitably, Marseille ....
'emel drew 3-3 after coming back from 1-3 down. I think Snalbans won, but not sure...but they are in the hat to face the dirty ones..
Local teams: Leamington FC, Conference North Banbury United, Southern League Premier Division Stratford Town, Southern League Division One South and West
