Burnley definitely edged it today but they weren't amazing, their success is based around a really decent front pairing, as soon as one of them is injured they might start to struggle. As for us we could be so much better we just need to show a bit more adventure in getting forward, half the time we doesn't look like we are even trying to score. That said there is a long way to go and I have a feeling Chevanton is going to turn out to be a canny bit of business.
So happy that I am allowed to have an opinion of my own even in the moment of defeat. And of course it is not contradictory in saying that we will still get up even though today´s performance was poor and admitting that - Burnley was dominating us most of the game and I do accept that they wanted to beat us whereas we did not have any appropriate answers. Secondly I do have strong doubts in Harry´s coaching skills as he he never presented any solutions today and of course last seaons is still not forgotten. Besides...."Das ist nicht ausgezeichnet..." - I did not understand that comment at all.
Just seen the goals on Final Score, first one very good, second definitely a penalty, rash and pointless challenge. Did we offer anything going forward?
Yes, I believe that we're definitely missing Steve McClaren's influence, in training ground routines, man management and also perched up there in the gods, like an eagle, observing our play, taking notes. He hasn't lost a game at Derby yet. If we are having our "wobble", I guess not a bad time, we're still 3rd with a game in hand (Wigan will be tough) and other results, apart from Leicester, seemed to go with us today. I see DJ Campbell who came on as a sub @ 60 min for Blackburn got red carded for fighting on 83 mins. Also note in the early game that Dexter Blackstock scored in a losing cause for Leeds, almost immediately after coming on as a sub at Huddersfield. Not to be superstitious, I love to see us play in our blue & white hoops as the away strip, with blue shorts & socks, but not very lucky for us these past two games. With today's result, those late dropped 2 pts at Millwall really hurt us. Quite honestly, based on our play, we were only ever really seemed in it for 1 pt today, if we had been lucky, e.g. Dunne's sitter went in and no late penalty to them. Well I guess Mark Hughes is also crying in his beer too after blowing that 2-1 lead at Old Trafford, losing 3-2. Southampton playing some nice stuff at home to Fulham, now 2-0 up, Taarabt, once again, not even on the bench.
Agree on Krancjar. Henry and O'Neill's perforamances seemed well below what I expect from a players at this level, and AE and Simpson were both poor with the ball. All the back 4 were good defensively and at times we played very well without looking much like scoring. Hoillet looked like he could beat players all day but no end product.
Nice reminder, time to crack open a bottle. I'm only going on the quality which I know is in our squad, and the quality of the opposition I have seen so far. We are far from firing on all cylinders, but I don't think some of the serious competition will have the legs.
We had to lose some time or other. Col is right - might take the pressure off with no records to worry about. One swallow does not make a summer and one defeat is not a catastrophe. I watched the first half on a stream and, on the day, they were the better team. Wigan is important and the fact that Molony is out for a few months is no bad thing either. We MUST NOT assume this league is ours to take etc etc. it is a marathon and the lads and Harry are well aware of that. Disappointed but no more than that.
i think it all depends on if I watch or not, Henry is one of the worst footballers to play for us for years yet is apparently great when I dont watch but shocking when I do, same goes for Oneil who I have yet seen do anything in a game Ive watched although he did score when I wasnt watching. Kranjcar had a great chance to hit the ball on the edge of the box when the ball broke to him but for some reason decided to play it out to the wing, there was no one near him.
Always looked second best today our passing game struggled in the middle and Henry makes me nervous. Burnley are a good side and we had a slight off day but we must play better next time
