The flip side yes. How will that backline handle SAS? Coutinho back could make some interesting work of them as well.
Rodgers: "Steven Gerrard showed he is a top, top, top, top player today." please log in to view this image
Possibly the best performance of the season - such a great energy from everyone, and it helped with Henderson supporting the front two. Lucas and Gerrard had a great game in central midfield as well. May just be me but I thought Skrtel was poor today but will need to watch the match again to make sure. As good as he has been over the past few games, I still would have Agger ahead of him because I think he's a better defender overall. SAS strike again - Luis was unstoppable today and was in that mood. Sturridge was good as well but not his best game - scored an absolute peach of a goal. With these two players starting, we can win any game. We instantly have that mindset and confidence going into every match knowing that we have goals in this team. Arsenal are going to be a massive test - I was worried about them because they have the most lethal midfield in the league (when all are fit) and are extremely confident. Our defence and midfield are gonna get a working over but as mentioned previously, we have the attack to cause problems of our own.
Arteta got a red card today. So he misses the game with us. Wilshere has struggled for form. Cazorla will need to be kept quiet. Ramsey is bossing it at the moment.
Flamini went off with an injured groin as well - if him and Arteta are both out then they don't have another natural DM to play in that role.
Arteta was sent off bringing down last man which I think is only 1 match. Arsenal play in the league cup next week so he'll be banned for that match and be back against Liverpool. Flamini will be a massive loss for Arsenal ...
If we play like we did yesterday and Arsenal play like they did against Palace (very average) then we should win. The questions are can we? and will they?
Any one hear Hansen last night on MOTD? I was disappointed that he though RVP and Rooney were the best striker partnership in the league and it was clear savage and Linekar thought otherwise. I mean cummon Hanson, Savage isn't supposed to have more sense than you?
Yeah I thought he was just saying it to be unbiased!! It's clear to every man and his dog that SAS are currently the best strike force in the PL. Every stat possible would back that up - not just stats, the way the play together as a pair. Rooney and RVP play as individuals in comparison.
Think Hansen was fair enough... On paper Rooney and RVP are better, and if they gel will be better. Aguero + Negredo/Dzeko/Jovetic could be better too given time to gel. We're lucky in a way that we don't have the options/depth and have had to partner them (to great effect).
