Little activity yet from Redknapp, which is fine as we're a long way from finishing yet, however, I'm slightly worried about the kind of players we're being linkde with. Nobody of real class, which means we might be in for a summer of spending money on people we really don't need. Other people have said similar things, so I thought I'd make a thread specifically for this. Hopefully the media has just been making stuff up, and Harry has some good targets in mind
Exactly, the only one that excites me so far is the possibility of us getting the highly rated Brazilian striker Leandro. He looks a top prospect and reallly hope we get him. Apart from that most the players that we been linked with have been very average. We should be going all out right now and sticking in a 25mil bid for Falcoa. He's expressed his interest in playing in the prem and our name was mentioned.
Did you read his interview Don? He mentioned he was in negotiations over a new contract with Porto so I take what he said with a pinch of salt, he's likely just trying to get a few extra grand a week. We've been linked with Drogba, Forlan, Rossi, Diarra, Falcao, Hulk, Hazard, Gervinho, etc so hardly poor quality. Apart from strikers I wouldn't think we are looking to add anyone that will go straight into our starting 11 this summer so it's no wonder that we're not always linked to very top players. I know some people see Dembele as a step back but if we could have got him for around £10mill he'd have been a very useful player to us. Also, the transfers are just starting to kick off. Once Sunderland and Blackburn get their money and with Fulham having a new boss I can see the lower level signings picking up and once we're rid of 3/4 surplus players I can see Levy giving 'Arry free reign to go for his targets.
If you think it's going to be anything other than a 31st August blitz you're in for a very long, stressful summer
What's worse is i'm in spain on the 31st/1st, so i'm going to miss it have to just check here on my phone every now and then, you guys can keep me updated
That's not what I was saying, Shelf :-D The transfers are starting to pick up some pace now which bodes well for us. That said we didn't have a last minute deal come off in January and I have to say, it's just not the same without one :-(
Worryingly, they always seem to be strikers. Pav, Keane(2nd time) and Defoe(1st time) all were last minute off the top of my head.
You're worried about the fact the papers and online sites need to fill up space by linking clubs with every player availible, don't be a plank mate, its silly season for transfer gossip so just read it and have a chuckle and debate once we actually sign a player.
Last season we were linked with over 100 players. We signed one of them and one player that we weren't linked with at all. Ignore the rumours as they're almost certainly a load of old crap.
