2-0 liverpool 2 good goals that weren't really defensive mistakes. Debayo who looked like a liability in earlier saints player highlights has put in 2 really good challenges and hesketh played a very creative pass. Other than that liverpool have looked so much better.
Not good so far, 2-0 down after 15 minutes. We can't seem to get on the ball. The new centre-back looks quite good, put in a very good Lovren-esque tackle a few minutes ago.
Hesketh has played 3 brilliant balls through, he's definietly got something about him. From 2 of the balls gallagher should have got a shot on target but didn't, forgotten what happened the first through ball he played. Marcus barnes scored but it was ruled offside
We're playing like a young, undersized team. A few good moments but even hesketh who has looked our most dangerous in possession was easily nudged off the ball and that's been the difference - Liverpool are better technically but have been able to control midfield through strength more than technical ability.
2-2, Gallagher and Hesketh have scored 2 good goals, we've pressed them well and kept possession better. Gallagher finished from a great ball from the centreback clinton, and hesketh scored from a rebound after a quick break.
2-2 now, playing much better this half. First half our passing was sloppy, tightened it up this half and getting the results for it. Not confident of our defending, bit like our first team last year where you feel like an error is going to happen. Stand out players for me so far are Gallagher (really picked it up this half), Hesketh (played some great passes) and Debayo (made some great tackles)
Oh dear. Isted and Debayo really make a mess of things and the ball rolls through for a tap in. 3-2. Isted came way too far and collided with Debayo.
3-2 route 1 ball from liverpool, istead comes out but debayo heads it backwards despite istead having an easy clearance. Terrible goal to concede, istead wasn't commanding enough but debayo was in his way, the goalie has to take responisbility though.
Should have been a Liverpool pen there. Isted flies out of his goal again and got nowhere near the ball. Shot hit Debayo on the arm.
Would have been very harsh I reckon. I don't think it was an unnatural movement. We had a similar shout in the first half which wasn't given, so it evens out. Can't say the camera angle was the best so I might be wrong
True, but the shot was going in and certainly did seem to hit his arm. Would have felt hard done by if it was against us!
3-3. Both teams have a right to be disappointed and reasons to be pleased. Liverpool dropped a 2-0 lead, Saints would have won it without giving a goal to a dreadful mistake.
finished 3-3 decent performance and good result. Fair to say liverpool took the foot off the gas a bit, they looked far superior to us in the first half. their goalies poor passing and an injury to their centreback swayed the match into our favour and we had a good second half as a result. Gallagher while not brilliant technically flicked the ball on into dangerous areas, took his two goals well, made good runs and generally functioned as a lone striker should. both centrebacks, debayo and clinton had some good individual moments but we're poor as a partnership and hesketh's creative passing was excellent. No one else really impressed.
I agree with most comments but felt the game changed for us when Young Mells came on. The Liverpool commentator called it also. overall true spirit to fight back.
