Is it just me(apart from wooly) who thinks Sire De Grugy is absolutely huge at 2/1 currently? He beat the previous years champions chase winner LTO in a grade 2 whilst a novice. Although he is top weight surely he has far too much class for these handicappers(***o had the better of Majala by plenty of lengths before flopping at the 3rd/2nd last fence if i remember correctly.) and the ground isnt an issue either.

Just setting off for Chepstow and can now tell you we are going to watch BROADWAY BUFFALO 4/1 4.10. Just had our money down. Running off 140 today he works like a 155ish horse at home and will need to now show that on track, pond house money is on him today and is running to win.

Morning all.....as per my comments on yesterdays thread really like the chances of the grey gatsby. Have taken 20/1 . Each way BPG. Soft ground, trip, and track will play to his strengths.. Bit of a minefield the race but confident of a place so decent bet. I also like walkon at aintree...goes well fresh and ground will suit. 9/2 BPG.. Its great to see the jumps back on terrestrial tv. Prefer it to the flat.
Thanks Gallop and best of luck -here was I just sat wondering whether he is the only horse in the race that could be a "chucked in improver". I would put his only defeat down to the ground, he clearly needs it juicy and I think he'll murder these today
with Virak maybe filling 2nd place.

Got one of those sneaky feelings today - I think the lovely Mrs Lavelle could land a tasty double at Chepstow (and upset Paul Nicholls in the process) with Shotgun Paddy and Timesremembered. Shotgun Paddy goes in the Novices Chase at 2.25 and is up against the first Nicholls hotpot in Just A Par. There was just 3lbs between the two of them over hurdles and yet Just A Par is 1/2 fav and Shotgun Paddy is 13/2. Shotgun Paddy clearly loves the mud, having won twice and placed 3 times on soft and heavy and he looks a real bit of value here. Timesremembered runs in the Persian War and is up against another short-priced Nicholls favourite in Ceasar Milan, who is around the 2/1 mark whilst Timesremembered is 13/2. Ceasar Milan is owned jointly by the Stewart and Wylie families so certainly has the right credentials in that department, but I find the form of his 2 bumper wins less that stellar, and I'm happy to take him on with Timesremembered. The Akbar gelding won on hurdling debut at Uttoxeter and, although he put in some dodgy leaps, he clearly has a decent motor as he led all the way and pulled out more when challenged from 2 out to win readily from Charlie Longsdon's No No Mac, with the 3rd, Jonjo's Dakar run (who had previously finished 5th in the Aintree Champion Bumper) miles back. Going further back to his pointing days, Timesremembered started with 2 second-placed efforts before winning at the 3rd time of asking on soft/heavy from a horse called Mr Grey, who subsequently won a P2P by a distance. You have to really stay to win the Persian War and I think Timesremembered has a very decent chance today.

Don't get your knickers in a twist, Uncle, but, you know, multiples are basically lousy bets. They should only be tried as a 'fun' wager, I'm sure you know that. Bookmakers love Yankees and whatnot, which usually result in the punter getting a Christmas Card from them. A bad sign in itself. One of the best tipsters on the old BBC forum, and for a while on this one, was a gentleman named Galaxy. He never advocated a multiple bet, just singles carefully thought out. He was a great believer in studying video form, and carefully noted horses who ran well, were unlucky in running, etc. etc. Man, he used to tip winners, just like Stick does today. Don't believe Stick ever offers fancy Yankees and the like?

The horse was tipped on the SportingLife website earlier in the week so you are not alone in cheering the grey. It is unclear which of three will start favourite but it has been a strong race for them in recent years and four have been supplemented suggesting they all think they are pretty decent.
That PR guy on ‘The Morning Line’ did not look much older than a student, so what made the idiot think that advertising National Student Raceday before 9am on a Saturday was going to reach any of the intended audience? He must know that most students think that ‘Countdown’ is breakfast television. Another gimmick destined to fail.
On Friday at Newbury, the going was heavy; two of the eight races were won by the favourites; and there was a 20/1 winner. On Friday at Doncaster, the going was soft; two of the eight races were won by the favourites; and there were three 25/1 winners.
The Saturday card at Newbury features three pattern races, which presents a reasonable balance for racegoers who now just need to find something that will go through bottomless ground. Good luck!

The best horse that was originally entered for the mile two-year-old event was Toormore, but he is giving it a miss because of conditions. Given Aidan O’Brien’s recent record of farming this event his three entries could be the best place to look; however, Saturday’s flat cards are a complete no bet just like they were on Friday.
