The real point is nothing to do with this Butterworth guy but rather the list of names he has suggested. It does not contain a single one who warrants appointment on any basis other than "Just anybody, not Hughton". <ok>

There are some decent names in that list and all are realistic for an ambitious club. Di Matteo and O'Neill have achieved big things in the game (between them their trophy cabinet includes league titles; FA cup; Scottish Cup; League Cup and Champions League). They have also both built relegation candidates into mid-table teams genuinely looking upwards. Neil Lennon is also looking like a manager with a good future.

IMO people are wrong to say we shouldn't sack Hughton because there is no-one better out there (they should just simply say that we shouldn't sack Hughton!)

I didn't say "We shouldn't sack Hughton because there is no-one better out there". What I was saying was that when the people who DO want to see Hughton sacked are asked who they think should replace him, they cannot produce one realistic suggestion as to who might actually come to us AND would at the same time be pretty much guaranteed to do a better job than Hughton is doing. Nobody on Butterworth's list meets those conditions. <ok>

O/T but nowhere else to put it: Ayala scored on debut, and Kamara was on the scoresheet too last night as Boro beat Doncaster 4-0.
