January Business

Greetings all. What a week eh? A goal for a local lad, an incessant booing of a racist, a bunch of Mackems getting slated in a whiskeyed-up Scot's book, and a horse puncher going to jail.

It got me thinking though - January is coming up soon. What sort of business should we try and do? Now, knowing Ashley is as tight as Bramble's shorts, and the fact that Carr and Pardew don't seem to know that there is football outside of France, none of these will probably happen. But this is what I would do.

First of all, there are two strikers we should go after. One we should DEFINITELY sign. The other one would be a marquee signing - not really necessary, and if it were to happen, Cisse would be on his way.

So the one, we NEED to get is this:

Demba Ba (Chelsea) - Loan/8 million

Now, I know some of you won't be too fond of this idea. But really - he left us for a side that were the Champions League holders, and had dreadful strikers at the time. (Still kinda do, but Jose ain't a fan, seemingly).
He was up for a move to Arsenal a couple of months ago, but with Giroud firing, the Gunners probably don't need him as much. But we do. Remy is great out on the left, and with Ba up front, it would be delicious.

Then there's the player we should make a move for, but it ain't the end of the world if and when it gets rejected.

Javier Hernandez (Man United) - 12-18 million

Won't happen due to funds, but can you imagine. What a signing that would be. He would score goals for fun, and would be the fox in the box we crave.

Adam Lallana (Southampton) - 10 million

Now, I'm not one to decry Graham Carr, but he said this lad wasn't good enough, when Pardew wanted him. I don't say this often - but Carr was wrong. Granted Cabaye is a better player, and we did well to sign him instead. But Lallana would be a great reinforcement to our midfield and would complement it so well. Anita is not the creative playmaker that Cabaye is - Lallana is. Now, whether he'd go from being a rising club's star man to our probable bench is another matter.

SELL:

I don't want to, but Obertan wants to go, I think. He thought a move up north would get him games he desperately needed. It hasn't worked out. I would much prefer him on the pitch than Sammy Ameobi, but he'll probably want out. We'd do well to recoup a third of what we paid.

Bigirimana needs games. I rate him, I really do, but he ain't gonna play much this season. Off to the Championship with him.

Get rid of Cisse if our second striker comes in, but that's it.

 

Another negative transfer window looms

In - nowt maybe a loan or some random french kid.

Out - depends oh the transfer offer every one is for sale at the right price with fat mike.

 

Yeah, like last January. Only bought five players the tight fisted get.

 

Maybe he should have opened both fists and we might have got ten in.

 

Jordan Rhodes and Tom Ince.

I'd love Demba, be ridiculous in this side but not gonna happen.

 

If only Chelsea had signed Cisse after his two wonder goals against them and left us with Demba alongside Remy and Benni/Gouf.

Actually if I was talking bout last January Looking back in hindsight that was a negative one.
the core of the players brought in then have been massive flops who nearly put us down who lack bank bone.

Its quality not quantity we need sadly we have neither

 

Sorry, have to disagree on this one. Debuchy, Sissoko, Gouffran, MYM & Haidara were all players we needed. Most are still first team regulars now. Our problem in that window was (having lost Ba to Chelsea) losing out on Remy to QPR, Otherwise I think we'd have been safe far sooner.

 

Would have had more goals with those two.

 

On paper obi the lads who came in looked decent signings however have failed to deliver.

Sissoko - bar the Chelsea game never will showed it (granted dopey bollockd has had him out of position.

Shawcross for me. Better than Saylor and never injured. Would be the perfect foil for Colo.

I'd then want a big, mobile striker but doubt either will happen.
