To be honest Pat the person who represents us is less important to me than people making unsubstantiated claims that they were invited and proclaiming themselves as our representative.

People on the not606 forum follow me; I wasn't specific in my email invitations. I asked for the name of 'the chosen representative'.

I think the flak aimed at Craig probably explains why people who are neutral or pro on this issue cannot be arsed to keep repeating their views.
I hope olm clears this all up and posts the email that specifically invited him.I am sure that would stop any doubts about opportunism on his part.
OLM is a prolific poster and fighter for the truth so I am sure he will have no problem showing the time line-just as we reasonably expected from WYP.

Firstly OLM made it clear in his opening post that he will represent the board fully. He is honest in the fact that we are fully aware of his views. Any other representative, of either persuasion, would also have the dilemma of representing others & not themselves.

“You all know where I stand on this issue, but as I am attending as a representative of this board, I thought I'd have this one thread open for all posters to give their thoughts and suggest any questions you'd like answered etc “

The meeting, as far as I’m aware, is to discuss supporter’s concerns with AA’s proposal to rename our club "Hull Tigers". If you have no concerns with this proposal then you do not need representation at the meeting, It doesn't concern you. Any posters who support the change & want to let AA know should organise their own meeting. I don’t think there is a need for OLM to go into any detail other than “some members of the board support the change”

I have no issue with OLM representing the people on this board who have concerns regarding AA’s proposed name change & therefore support him in his representation. I do not think he should be putting forward views of people who support the change the meeting is not for this purpose.

Points/questions I would like discussed/asked, if time permits.

The lack of clarity when rolling out the proposed name change was confusing for the fans. There was no unity in the senior ranks of the club. Views expressed by these people were often contradictory, this lead to suspicion & mistrust. A united front often leads to a united club. I have confidence with our owners. I support & agree with their ethos of running the club as a business. Continued supporter (customer) engagement can do nothing but assist in the club (business) succeeding.

Can the reason for the proposed name change be clarified? Is it solely because he thinks the word “City” is common or “AFC” redundant

Hull City AFC supporters are proud of their name, club, culture & history. We are already known world wide as Hull City AFC. On our board alone we have support globally, Sweden, Australia, Thailand, Canada, USA & many other places. The footprint to build our club (brand) on globally is already in place with our worldwide support.

“The Tigers”, our nickname, is the best nickname in the country if not the world. There are other “Tigers”, Castleford & Leicester for example, but we are “The Tigers” The word “The” stands us apart from the others. As “Hull Tigers” we would have no nickname.

Hull has a history of teams with “Americanised” names. Hull Sharks, Hull Vikings, Hull Angels, Hull Thunder, Hull White City, Hull CPD Vikings, Humberside Seahawks, Humberside Hawks. The one constant is, all these clubs went bust. What evidence is there that “Hull Tigers” will succeed where many others have failed?

Hull City AFC as members of the Premier League are currently gaining a worldwide exposure that hasn't been matched throughout our history. Premier League football, including Hull City AFC, is broadcast in 212 territories to 643 million homes to a potential audience of 4.7 billion people. Changing our name next season could potentially confuse & effect foreign support we attract this season. Success on the field will lead to continued exposure of Hull City AFC, which in turn, will lead to an enhancement of our current brand. Putting the "club" in the shop window could also assist in generating extra income, for example, getting involved in foreign closed season tournaments.

If you need me to enhance any points / questions or need clarification then please pm me.

Managed to get about halfway through this thread before I decided I couldn't be arsed to read all the posts but for what it's worth my views are, I think similar to quite a few other City supporters:

I will be eternally grateful to Mr Allam for saving our club from possible extinction by lending it £66 million or so and also for bringing in Steve Bruce and giving us a chance to challenge in the Premiership again.

To me, the club I have supported for the last 44 years will only ever be Hull City AFC "The Tigers"

I can sort of see that from the point of view of someone who has had no interest in football for most of their life, that they might think "Hull Tigers" sounds a more snappy title but surely they can't seriously think that the majority of supporters are going to be happy with it.

However, the club is more important than the name by which it is known and my main concern is that we continue to have a club to support.

So I guess what I'm saying is that I'm against the name change and I hope that the anti campaign is successful in changing Mr Allam's mind over this but I'll be pleasantly surprised if they do. If they don't, then I will still go and support my club but I will only call them City or "The Tigers"!

When something comes out of all this & the meeting is done, can OLM or whoever does it, please post the outcome on a new thread, one of the mods make it a Sticky for about a month so everyone can see, also lock it so no one else can post on it.
I would like to know what happens in all this, but I don't want it to get posted I the middle of this thread as I got through page 1 of this thread & couldn't be arsed with the accusations of every person whinging about who invited who & why they were invited.
If people aren't bothered by the name change then they don't need to comment on anything.

I am happy for OLM to represent me. My own opinion is shown in my tagline below.

There are some who think that, because OLM has his own, clearly expressed opinions, that this makes it impossible for him to represent the views of those who differ. Having been in similar positions myself, it is quite easy to say something like "My own view is 'x', and of those who have expressed a view on the forum, N% have the same or similar views, Y% have an opposed view, and Z% have no view" I trust OLM to take this sort of line.

Even among those opposed to the name change, there are shades of opinion, with some being wedded to the AFC, whilst others seeing that as less important. they are all generally against the Allam proposals, however.

I haven't come across any "Yes to Hull Tigers" groups yet, nor heard any chants of the name. I guess that means that there isn't much support among the non-contributors? Among the group of seats around me, for instance, there is one pro Hull Tigers, and ALL the rest want no change. I am the only one posting on here though - not contributing does not automatically mean not caring.

Ash Lord ‏@ashlord23 21h
Emails were sent to those who I knew were in certain supporters' groups, that's all.

OLM, can you clarify this at all ? ... I am happy for you to represent the board at this meeting but if you have taken it upon yourself to name yourself as the rep then it concerns me.

OLM has had plenty of time to prove he was specifically invited to the meeting as the representative of this board.

He has been posting today, but he hasn't clarified this question.

There is a distinct contradiction in what he claimed on the OP for this thread and what Ash Lord wrote on his Twitter messages. So unless he wants people to believe he deviously and deliberately misled this board he needs to prove otherwise.

This has nothing to do with the name-change debate, it is purely about OLM clearing up this anomaly.

This is getting boring now.

To be honest, I don't think it matters one iota who goes to this meeting. It's not about Assem Allam wanting to field the opinions of those who are in partnership with him in his Hull City project. I know enough people who have experience with him in the business world to know he isn't that type of man, as very few successful business men are. So there is little point in banging on about representation when the whole issue is moot!

I've already stated that if this board decides that someone should go in my place, then I will glady step aside.
