For me it erodes our identity. Our club name has been so for 109 years and I see very little point or need or benefit to change it. As I sent in my PM to OLM. The reason clubs do well with revenue streams from abroad is because they have huge fan bases due to clubs being a) very successful and b) visiting said places on pre season trips. Us and our proposed name change makes us look small time and along with Cardiff City - laughing stocks. Will we be able to build a decent revenue stream from abroad? Doubtful, most countries now have decent league structures in place for them to follow, rather than cling onto a PL team. Look at Portland Timbers example on this board and the explosion of leagues in Qatar/Australia/America/China. Countries we (PL Clubs) would have been able to tap into as football fans craved the Premier League.
The vast majority on this forum couldn't care less one way or the other. Out of those with an opinion, sure, the anti's are most vocal, however you are still persisting in counting in the don't cares with the antis and deciding that as they don't care, they'd be happy if the name didn't change, which is stupid, as those of us who'd be happy with Hull City Tigers could claim exactly the same. Ironic thing is I don't think this meeting will be what you expect, I do not think you'll get from it what you seek, and Dr A will do what he thinks is best anyhow, as is his prerogative. I suspect the people there will not be presenting a united, coherent argument, the main basis will be history, and he'll run rings round you all.
Those people who go in with the 'City Till We Die' could be confronted with a 'OK you win, we'll retain the 'City' and just go for a world-wide "Hull 'City' Tigers". Great result..... or will you then have to spend £500 on a 'AFC Till We Die' flag?
You just don't get it, do you, pal? 'Dr' Allam wants to remove 'City' completely. Wise up and stop with the stupid (un-funny, un-witty) cracks!
pretending that he wrote "Some bigger clubs are not from cities" when he actually wrote "Some bigger clubs are not cities" is not a good way to make your point. there is a difference.
Well out of all the posts on here you're the only one kicking up a fuss about OLM going to represent 606 so there you have it, your opposition is in the minority so Lambo can go quite happy in the knowledege that the majority endorse his attendance
He wants to remove 'City'. It's not yet a done deal. That, hopefully, is what this meeting will be about - to show him the depth of feeling of many City fans. Then again, it might just be his way of abiding by the EPL request that he 'consult'. We shall see.......
âI have been asked to attend as the representative of this board and I have accepted that invitation.â OLM âWho asked you to attend on behalf of this board? I'm not having a go, or suggesting it should be anyone else, I'm just interested.â Tony Warnerâs Face âBy Ash Lord, the club know I'm the heaviest poster on this board and already know me from the FLAG.â OLM @ashlord23 4h People on the not606 forum follow me; I wasn't specific in my email invitations. I asked for the name of 'the chosen representative'. @ashlord23 4h Emails were sent to those who I knew were in certain supporters' groups, that's all. Please excuse my suspicious nature OLM, but do you have any proof that Ash Lord specifically invited you?
Firstly, i'm more than happy to have OLM, represent me on this. I don't know him,but iv'e read enough to know we share very similar ideals. If that makes me a sheep, then BAAAA. Anyway, here's what i want... 1/ My clubs name to remain to be known as, Hull city afc. 2/ The Allam family to understand beyond any doubt, that i massively appreciate what they have done for my club, and that i want them to continue, to do so for as long as they wish. And now here's what i would be prepared to accept... 1/ The clubs official name to be changed to, 'Hull city', and the nickname to remain, The Tigers. 2/ A substantial bung...brown envelope I could talk about tradition and culture, and i hope my representatives will point out the upcoming city of culture campaign result. Hull Tigers v Hull city afc, it's a no brainer surely ? A sincere thank you, to all that have tried to keep our heritage. Kempton Klutz.
We've achieved unprecedented success in the last 10 years under the name Hull City AFC, the club name which generations before us supported, giving a proud link to our heritage. We can set the platform for further success using our current name. Our concerns should be placed elsewhere if we are looking at ways to move the club forward nationally and globally. There is no quick fix to this and recognition from a wider field has to be earned over time through success on the pitch. I don't feel that altering our club name will provide the proposed changes and its rather condescending to the global audience to believe that they'll follow the club because it has the word 'Tiger' in it's name. We should feel proud to enter an exciting stage of this club's history sporting the name our club has held for 109 years, not arrogantly dismissing it as lousy and common. I can't understand why there's an argument over OLM representing this board at the meeting. Is it really worth complaining about?
He sent me the email. If you want to start a thread to try and get me replaced as this boards representative, then by all means go ahead and see if you generate enough support to do so. If you do, then I'll stand down.
To be fair people are only happy for OLM to represent the board because they agree with his opinion. That does not make it fair or democratic. I don't know OLM. How can he possibly speak for me? I'm not pro change name whatsoever but it doesn't necessarily mean that the way he will phrase things or present his views are the same to me. 2 people against the name change could have different ways of delivering their thoughts. I think the least OLM should do is outline what he is going to say and how he is going to present his opinion. If he's going to represent this board as a whole then it's only fair that we know what he is going to say on our behalf. Otherwise, what should have been done if he was always going to represent us is that he makes sure he reflects the board TRULY. However I doubt he will...agenda and all.
Did the e-mail invite you specifically to the meeting as representative of this board, or was it an e-mail asking you to pass an invitation to the "chosen representative." - as he puts it?
