Well, sort of. It wasn't as if it was the final game of the season or anything. It was the result that made us mathematically safe, but it was a bit like last season - there was a possibility of going down, but not a likelihood. It's a myth that Sanchez 'kept us up'. I seem to recall his stats were very similar to Coleman's, suggesting that his appointment didn't make a lot of positive difference. If you're talking about goals that saved us from relegation, then Danny Murphy against Portsmouth trumps Clint all ends up. Kamara against Manchester City too, arguably.
Have to agree Captain - The award has to go to for Danny scoring at Portsmouth on that last day of the season was just so important - Although we were all wondering what he was doing in the penalty area (The celebrations for the remainder of the match and for an hour afterwards was wonderful). But due respect to Dio Kamara at Man.City. C O Y W
My favourite goal in a game involving Fulham was a last minute header scored by the Gills Bob Taylor at Priestfield in Nov 1998, you had the last laugh when you gubbed us at the Cottage in the return fixture on your way to winning that league.
So Fulham fans can't even agree that it's the best Fulham goal they've ever seen, says it all about the hyperbole of the media. Saw it myself for the first time earlier and I wasn't that impressed tbh, yeah a great goal, but not that great, certainly not even close to Nayim's 50+ yard looping volley over Seamans head in the last minute of the 95 ECWC, or Giggs meandering run through the Arsenal defence, or Beckhams chip, or Maradona dancing through England, so 'best goal ever', not even close,
... I don't think I've heard a single person say it's the best goal ever. Best goal in the PL this season so far? Definitely. Best Fulham goal ever? Probably (I don't think context should be taken into account). The fact Kasami hit it so sweetly with his wrong foot makes it even better. As a Chelsea supporting mate of mine said, "If Messi had scored that, everyone would be jizzing themselves for years".
Whilst heading away from goal, don't forget that. That's what made it extra impressive for me. Not the best goal I have ever seen, and maybe not even the best goal I have seen Fulham score. Clint's beauty against Juve is my personal favourite, but it's certainly in the top two.
sorry, I'd heard so much about this 'better than Van Basten' goal, 'one of the greatest goals ever' BS on TV and in the media for the lst few days, I was happy to see the fans from Fulham with feet planted firmly on the ground and meant to applaud them, it's like DiCanio v Wimbledon, it's not in my top 3 West Ham goals.
I agree about Di Canio's goal. Kasami's was the best Fulham goal, with Danny's the most important (yes, even more than Carlisle away). And I saw that some Palace fans' first reaction was to applaud Kasami.
