I agree wholeheartedly, but to claim removing City from the name is hammering another nail in the Cities future is laughable.
I have been invited to a meeting, I have accepted that invitation. I'm sorry if your not happy about that, but it's not going to change. If you wish to post your thoughts on the name change, then please go ahead so I can take them into account, otherwise I'd respectfully request that you just leave others to post their opinions.
That would be like Ed Milliband going to a EU meeting and representing the points of view of the Tories in opposition to his own opinions. It won't happen and as I said earlier OLM shouldn't be asked to do as such.
No doubt this is a futile gesture, but my view is; Hull Tigers = No, Hull City AFC = Official name only (on cups etc), Hull City Tigers = The name we should be known as.
I am more than happy for OLM to represent me at the forthcoming meeting. I do not support the name changed...full-stop. I would like to know what plans Dr Allam has if the name is changed and what he would do if we remain Hull City. He has done a great job in stabilizing the club but what are his plans from here on. OLM has a difficult task to represent all views and then give feed-back and I wish him well.
No representative is required in this case because the club has already chosen, which is my point. I think there is more chance of the club asking for a representative in future if there is already a recognised committee in place. At the minute there's the board and the moderators and nothing in between. As a result the club made the decision on who it wants at the meeting.
This thread sums up why this forum is last in the pecking order when the club seeks feedback/consultation.
I'm not stopping anyone posting their views. My only point is that you aren't the self-elected representative of this board.
To be honest, I think this meeting will end up being Assem Allam explaining his point of view to those opposing him rather than him seeking the opinions of others. And I would be astounded if he sanctions any ongoing consultative forum where representation is an issue. People should remember how he dealt with Brady and Gerraghty when they consider whether Dr. Allam in any way regards Hull City AFC as anything other than his property, and certainly some kind of democracy, fun by committee. In view of that I will be more interested to hear what OLM reports back with.
Thanks for all the PM's, I'll respond to each one individually, but the site will only let me reply to two messages every five minutes, so apologies if it takes a little while. Thanks to all those that are now also posting their thoughts on this thread, the more the merrier.
I never expected that from you Strovo, read it again you will see I was implying that knocking "City" off the Clubs Identity is supporting those who think the City as whole should be left to decay.
Providing they agree with you. It seems so far that anyone that dares disagree and doesn't object to the name change is put down as "oh that's 1 then" type comments (not just from you), which I have no doubt will keep the silent majority silent for fear of abuse. Suits your agenda I guess that. My view is: Hull Tigers = Don't mind, would rather not, but not going to cry over it, if it happens it happens, Hull City AFC = Official name only (on cups etc), Hull City Tigers = The name we should be known as. OLM is NOT representing this board, he is representing himself and those who agree with him. As I assume referring to him as "OLM" won't mean anything at the club, who can we say he is when we make sure the club knows he doesn't represent all of us at all on this board?
I think there is a problem in that many fans do not feel that strongly about the name change issue.Naturally they are less vocal than the anti name change lobby thus the anti campaigners seem to have interpreted the few who joined in the protests as the majority.imo this is one heck of an assumption when the evidence of numbers is examined I estimate we have about 100,00 fans so it will take one massive demo to convince me that the majority of us are anti Dr A"s plans. I doubt that OLM will try and put forward anything other than the anti name change arguments when there have been many on here who do not support his views. I admire the efforts and sincerity of OLM I just do not want him to go in to the meeting thinking he is representing everyone on here. There are a number on here who hold different views-not just me and HT
I will obviously be stating my case for retaining the name, but I'm not going to pretend that everyone on this board supports my view, hence having a thread to gauge the number of those who oppose that view. Hull Tigers is the name being offered and if it's our name it would go on any cups and it would be the name we are known as, nobody is proposing different names for different things. Fell free to call me OLM in any correspondence, they know perfectly well who I am.
I think I'd like to know: 1) Why we were told it wasn't changing, when it was crystal clear to everybody that it was. Just a straight, frank answer, no bullshit. 2) Just why/how changing the name is going to improve our standing with people abroad, when we have no success to back it up with. And if making a name shorter really does attract more fans, why aren't Q.P.R. a massive force across Europe? 3) Before the changes began, why weren't the fans informed of it? If we didn't have the initiative to stand up and be heard, would we have been consulted at all? It links to question 1, but I still wonder if they'd have bothered to notify us at all? 4) What exactly did Assem Allam mean that there was 'no more money left to put into the club' (see his Look North interview from a few months back)? If this is the reason for attracting new investment, then what will it mean in the short term if no investment comes in? Are we any closer to finding it? How close are we to self sustainment? (Not a name change subject I know, but the agenda might contain other things too!) In any case, I'd be against any name change to our club, I view it as unnecessary and it almost sounds like it's just being done for the sake of it.
Great. If they don't feel strongly about the name change then we'll keep the existing nomenclature. Obrigado.
Its easy to understand, OLM is representing people on the board who are against the name change ( I'm one of them) he has posted the most regarding apposing the name change. This made him high profile & secured him an invite to the meeting. If anyone disagrees then put in some work to establish your views and you might get an invite. In my opinion OLM is representing me & my views and I am quite happy with that.
