OLM has already asked for points to be raised and there is an opportunity on this thread to do just that. I can't see what you are crying about tbh Craig. The club can invite who it wants to meetings on their own premises surely? or do you feel you need your democratic input into that decision?
If I am to represent the views of this board, it would be rather handy if some people actually gave their views. It would be useful to know what percentage are against, what percentage are against but think Assem has the right to do what he likes and those who think the name change is a good idea. With regard to some of the other points raised, those with links to CTWD have already discussed(for four hours) what is likely to be discussed and the arguments that could be put forward on either side. They will be discussed again ahead of the meeting, though there's only so much we can pre-plan as we don't yet know the agenda or even who else will attend.
Well, it could be ^^^ - but, as the Club/Ash Lord have invited OLM, I think that begs the question. OLM is, as Ash Lord no doubt knows, opposed to the name change..... I guess posters on this board could send Lambo PMs, offering questions for him to ask. (I am suggesting PMs as, no doubt, asking for them on an open board would most likely lead to a mass of flying insults). That's if OLM is prepared to use his PM inbox for this purpose, as I do not doubt he will make points which reflect other points-of-view.
Why does it have to be a moderator? And if it does have to be a moderator then OLM held that position for a long time and served us well during it. As for the questions from the board, I think that's a good idea and something OLM is doing.
This is once more an example of someone oversimplifying the situation in order to strengthen their own position, and it doesn't work.
This really isn't a difficult concept to understand. Someone represents a group if they have been elected or employed by that group as a representative. The club have every right to invite anyone they like and OLM has every right to go. But OLM doesn't represent this board, he only represents himself. The above point has nothing to do with me or my views on the name change. It is simply the definition of a representative.
Oh dear, what a sad post. You think the City of Hull benefits more from the Football Club having "City" in the title, than it does from the owner forking out millions in order to have a club not only exist but also exist in the biggest, most publicised league in the world??? Have a word with yourself!
Spot on. Some fans care enough to go out and spend their own time on things like this. There are a few people who moan on forums about not being included as if they expect Nick Thompson to knock on their front door and say they've been chosen. How do people expect to get involved with stuff like this from behind a keyboard? Send some e-mails, the addresses are all available on the OWS.
I might be completely out of touch here, but I don't think you should or can represent the views of this board. There are significant numbers who disagree with you so if you try to represent them you will either have to compromise your own position or you will bias your protagonists point of view. All you can do is represent the opinions of those who want the name to remain unchanged on the Not606 message board.
We can, and we have achieved all of that as Hull City AFC. Therefore the forced name change is completely unnecessary.
I've received some very good PM's re what parts of name are important to people are which are not. Detailed stuff about the use of AFC, the registered company name, the playing name, the nickname etc I've cleaned out my inbox and anyone who would prefer to PM me is welcome to do so, as this thread has not gone entirely to plan. You have a voice at this meeting, you're welcome to use it.
I have no issue with putting across my own view, along with the view of the board as a whole, but I'll be better able to do that once people actually start posting their position(as you have done).
If Ash Lord regards OLM as the representative of this board then he has been misinformed. We do actually have a democratic structure by using the Poll facility. I think everyone has strong and diverse opinions on individual subjects which means no over-all representative would be possible. So the only fair thing would be in cases like this where a representative is required we use the poll facility to give everyone the chance to choose.
He stated "nail in coffin of the city of Hulls future." Well to continue with that metaphor, if Assem Allam has hammered another nail in the the coffin of Hull's future by changing the name of the football Club, then he has pulled out a hundred nails from that coffin by promoting this City throughout the world, at his own expense.
Is anyone else worried that Allam doesn't care at all what is said at the meeting and is simply doing it to show the Premier League that the fans have been 'consulted' etc?
If OLM attends the meeting with Assem as the representative of this board, he is clearly not being invited as the representative of the 'No to Name Change' faction. Let him know your opinion; argue your point-of-view. Then he can present both (or more?) sides of the argument. Or - contact Assem/the Club yourself.
