How is the worker out of pocket or without a pay-cheque?

Correct, total pain in the urethra.

Caught a couple of ****s stealing of us, and spend around 2 months trying to bladder them when in reality, I just wanted to stab them.

No, I don't think he sacks good workers for the pleasure of it. Does he do it to retain more money for himself? If its his own company then aye, probably.

Why should some arsehole who sits in an agency office all day be allowed to take a cut of someones paycheck, give them a zero hour contract and then get a juicy paycheck from a company for providing employees. A task that requires very little, if any ****ing work.

That's exactly what an agent is.

I refuse to use agencies as they tend to do **** all for their money (here's our entire database of CVs which may or may not relate to the roll you are recruiting for, pick one, then give us some money) but I acknowledge that they obviously have a niche since they do place people in jobs (including agency staff themselves), otherwise they wouldn't exist.

The agency we use has something like a 30p an hour lift on top of what they pay the guy. Hardly juicy.

    Going through agencies means:

We can see how good/bad the guy is
I don't have to pay NI/PAYE for the guy
I don't have to process his wages
I can offset his costs agains the VAT bill
Most importantly, although they get paid weekly, I pay the agency monthly once I get paid and it helps cashflow.

If the guy's decent, he'll get on the books, if not, they get pumped. Most of these guys get paid better through an Agency anyway compared to what we pay our guys as they are self-employed and don't pay as much tax/NI

You can get rid after 12 weeks anyway putting probation periods in employee contracts. Our standard employee contract now has 3 months notice either way. I sold it to the brass as protecting the company, but in reality it makes it much easier bringing people in from abroad when they know they are guaranteed a 3 month bung if it does not work out.

Aye but if you employee them directly you need to give them holidays and access to another employee benefits during that probation period...

Employee an agency or temp worker you don't have to till after 12 weeks...

Punt them at week 12, wait a week, rehire...after 12 weeks punt etc

Grangemouth like most petrochemical sites in the UK is a blue book site . This means the employer need to adhere to the blue book agreement that guarentees a level of terms and condidtions for every one who works on the site .

Iineos have been trying to disregard this since they took over Grangemouth . Before i left they had already brought in a load of immigrant workers but were forced to pay them the going rate when industrial action was threatened .

Todays events now mean that the company can do what they want . Bearing in mind that much of the refinary side of the plant is 70 years old don't be surprised if there is a major incident in the very near future .

if i was an employee in Grangemouth right now i would be volunteering for redundancy .

And that's the problem. Some guy getting paid for basically pimping people out, while doing little, to no ****ing work himself.

Or a company deliberately hiring agency workers because they know they won't need to give them the same benefits as they would a normal employee.

If you don't think there's anything wrong with that then I've **** all else to say frankly.

Are these workers on zero-hour contracts coerced onto them against their will? If they don't want to be on such contracts surely they can look elsewhere?
