You don't even know what was in the contracts <doh>

Just because they had contracts doesn't make them invincible like some of you seem to think.

EDGE hires people who are contracted out by agencies. And while he may not admit it, we both know between him and the agency **** over plenty people.

Do you even know what a Contract is FFS <laugh>

If a Client places an Order/contract with you and they cancel the Contract, then you can go after them for loss of profit. So unless they go tits up then they'll need to honour the contracts - which they will - or the Contractors, who are all big Companies themselves, will go after Ineos for loss of profit.

    Yes siree bob

Because I don't believe for a second you provide permanent employment to every good worker.

That's what people used to say about the likes of YTS schemes (excuse the tautology). Very easy to abuse the system. Especially when they don't speak good English.

I work in Construction, it's a very volatile industry, but if I've got enough work, we'll keep them on.

Which is why zero hour contracts as well as most agency contracts are bullshit.

It's no alright for the company to be out of pocket but its alright for the worker to be out of a paycheck.

When I'm on contract I always have a chat with the client at contract extension time so that between us we squeeze the agent. The client doesn't pay more money, I get more money, the agent gets less.

You think he sacks good workers for the pleasure of it, or he wants to keep more money for himself?

I don't think there is a conspiracy of employers against employees. Having to recruit staff is one of the biggest pains in my baws, you only get a couple of interviews and email interactions to try and work out if the person is good or not, and a certain percentage of the time you employ someone who makes your job harder, or is needy, or who does a **** job and doesn't stop complaining etc. Getting rid of staff is a pain in the baws as well, I've had to pay off someone who basically admitted defrauding the company, but it was easier to give them a bung to get rid of them rather than risk having to do all the industrial tribunal crap.

Anyway the moral of the story is good people are hard to come by and when you find them you generally try to keep them.

My friend works as an agent supplying workers in the IT industry. He was telling me that recently he has seen his profits going down. I'm really looking forward to having a drink with him this evening now.
