SAF gets criticised for being honest and straightforward (although I suspect he has still tempered his views) on a few subjects.

He would have been slated had he written the stereotypically anodyne autiobiography we see from so many. "Born in Govan. I became a shop steward. Played for Rangers - wasn't bad, but not brilliant. Started managing in Scotland. I won trophies with Aberdeen. I left Aberdeen, I joined Man Utd. I won loads of trophies. I retired. The End."

Why write one at all, or at least leave it 5 years until the dust has settled? Lord knows he can't need the money. Having a dig at Beckham, Keane etc is bad form, given how much they contributed to his success. Obviously they have flaws, but they were owed more loyalty than that.

Nothing, but the backlash against him is because he's dared to express his own views in his own autobiography!

The shame is that he couldn't (for legal reasons) comment on the issues with McManus and Magnier over Rock of Gibraltar

Anybody else would have been slaughtered for criticising the players that brought them success. His ass lickers in the press will protect him though.

A great book to read is Danny Blanchflower's "Double and Before".
The craziest football autobiography I ever read was Len Shackleton's where he asks the question "what do football directors (owners?) know about football?"......and he left the page blank!!!!!

At the risk of sounding like an argumentative sod, the same would probably be true if Mourinho released an autobiography next week where he slags off Terry, Lampard and Drogba.
