Dr Allam has requested that a representative of each Hull City fan group/forum, along with three representatives of the City Till We Die campaign, attend a meeting at the end of next week. I have been asked to attend as the representative of this board and I have accepted that invitation. No agenda for the meeting has been set, but I think it's safe to assume that the name change issue will be the main(if not only) issue that will be discussed. You all know where I stand on this issue, but as I am attending as a representative of this board, I thought I'd have this one thread open for all posters to give their thoughts and suggest any questions you'd like answered etc Post away...
Who asked you to attend on behalf of this board? I'm not having a go, or suggesting it should be anyone else, I'm just interested.
Excellent news. No time for sentiment and a representation of all views, or allow people to decide who they want representing them, best keep it all carefully controlled against the name change. Ask him when I can order merchandise with the new name on it please?
I'll also add before I get off the toilet and ho back to work that aren't you also on the CTWD committee? And every other city fan comittee? It just seems a very closed group and I'm not sure if there's ever a chance the average city fan actually gets represented on these things. Again, to clarify, I'm not singling you out OLM, it's more these groups in general.
I hope you're not suggesting this is a select clique representing all fans views. Sure, OLM (who could never be described as average) could have represented any of the other sites, but they probably wanted some of their others there too, this forums less formally controlled so easier for his mate Ash to ask him along as "Our representative".
How can you have a meeting like that without an agenda? It would be appreciated if you could point out to Dr. Allam that there are significant numbers, if not a majority, of City fans that are NOT in favour of the name change, but who are unwilling to protest against him out of respect to what he has done for the Club and City. However, that being said, such people are still opposed to the name change. Oh, and make sure you dress-up for the occasion and be polite, no matter what is said!
I don't actually know who will be attending the meeting, but as almost every City fan group supports the CTWD campaign, it would be pretty much impossible to put together a meeting that wasn't biased in that way. The fact is, that the majority of the posters on here don't want a name change and it's the same on all the boards, that will be reflected by all those who attend the meeting. Though I'll try and let Dr Allam know that HT is in favour.
I've requested an agenda, if I get something I'll post it. I'll also bear in mind your point, I think it applies to a fair number of people. And i'll wear my best frock.
It would be a great opportunity to get the club on board with creating a better atmosphere. As shown by the Portland Timbers thread, great things can be done if the club and fans work together, I'm sure if you were well prepared and presented some facts/examples the club might be receptive to making a difference.
As far as I can aware this meeting will be about the name change. This is all it should be about at this stage as far as I am concerned. OLM, would you be kind enough to point out that the vast majority of Hull City fans support Mr Allams right to run his business as he sees fit. Even if we don't actually like some of it.
You always say this and I always say to you that if anyone else bothered to get involved they could quite easily get onto these groups. I've done it myself and I'm doing my best to get on this one too. If papa is a regular reader of this board, that might just swing it our way...
Is the meeting going to filmed or recorded in anyway so the exact transcript is available ? Taking minutes is OK but some of the context can be lost.
The representative of this board should be decided democratically rather than through cronyism. I wouldn't want to stand, but I would like the chance to elect someone who doesn't have the one-sided views OLM has. We should have a poll. Anyone else here want to put their name forward?
I like your impartial approach OLM, but there are too many sympathisers on here. **** it - go with your opinion, I'm more than happy for that. Hull Tigers? Get to ****.
