What an excellent post and I wait with bated breath for a reply from - canary-chippy, carrabuh and ........ Good post by you too supers - I agree, that his major flaw is that he's not Lambert. PS - I would like to retract my criticism I made re his tactics in the Hull game. <eatshumblepieemoticon>
indeed, who do these 'outers' expect mcnally to bring in? If tony pulis turns down palace because of their league position, does that mean if there was a vacancy at CR and we were bottom 3 at the time he would turn down norwich? most fans wouldn't want him anyhow. just an example of what the alternative is. who else is there avaliable - di matteo, warnock, avran grant?
All we need to silence the critics in my opinion are a few goals. Most of our other shortcomings have been addressed including 'style of play' issues. I think this will come and is primarily down to players needing time to get used to a new team structure style and above all movement. The game is all about anticipation and movement these days, we have got the latter but lack the former! You only have to look at the arsenal game to see that. Arsenals move and flicks worked in the final 3rd and ours didn't, when a players flicks the ball into where he thinks the striker is going to be and the striker goes the other way it looks dumb, but when it works it's sublime football. We WILL get it right soon and then watch us move up the table
A couple of wins might be nice 5 wins in 28 Premier League games now, but hey-ho you can twist statistics to mean whatever you like can't you? As long as the majority of you lot are happy, yeah ?
last season people were moaning saying that they didn't care about the results if the football was more attractive. why has that now reversed? #agendaagainsthughton you can only go on this season really as far as performance is concerned as we have a new team. improvement is clear for all to see unless you chose not to. and yes, stats can be made to look however you like. in the last 15 competitive games we've won 7.
I did say this season!. it would be lovely if you took the time to read posts and answer the the question posed.
another thing that often gets thrown (quite rightly) at the manager is our away form, but we've actually won 3 of our last 6 away games having only won 1 of the previous 18. so maybe, just maybe, he's improving us on that front too? not that he gets any credit for any possible turnaround of course
alright welly? my old man sent me some texts earlier. the first text read: "we have watched replays of some games and though we've only done it in small doses some clips wouldn’t look out of place in the champions league" text 2 read: who do you reckon said that? [i said i didn't know but then guessed snodgrass] text 3: NO! ****ING COLE SKUSE!!! THIS IS HOW DELUDED OUR PLAYERS ARE genius
@longsightcanary Re. substitutions, the best comment ever came from Mourinho after our game when the interviewer commented on what a masterstroke his introduction of Hazard and Willians had proved to be. "ALL my substitutions are brilliant.", replied Mourinho, "Whether the outcome is brilliant or a disaster on the other hand, depends entirely on the players"!
As in last week, when CH brought on Wes and not BJ. On another day, Wes could have conjured up a bit of trickery and laid on a pass for the equaliser - the margins between success and failure are miniscule.
The Tipster section of the Metro this morning recommended getting on Chris Hughton as next manager for the chop at 5/2
Well as he is about the third longest serving now in the Prem it is probably right, but not for that reason. Christ, give the guy a break, things are gonna get better! Soon! Very Soon!
Jr...... Wins and exciting football, a run of results ? It's hardly rocket science ! If he can do this and soon I'm quite happy to change my view of his ability. If he can't then how much longer can we wait? As for who ? We'll how many people said " who's Paul lambert" when we appointed him?
although this is true chippy, with respect we are in a completely different place to back then and need a quality manager with top league experience. we can't just hire an up and coming manager - picking paul tisdales name out randomly - like Paul Lambert was at the time. Or are you suggesting we could hire someone we've never heard of (from abroad in all probability) this is not aimed at you, but i've yet to see a name mentioned who would be better than Chris
Things have already got better Thurnby. Now we need the points those performances deserve! As CH himself said: "We felt we should have got something more from particularly the Chelsea match, so if you keep that belief and keep playing in that vein results will turn. Of course we all know it is a results-business. To that end it comes down to being brave in possession and believing in what you are doing. You can talk about things like formations but it is more about how you play, not the system.”
when we had a great run of results people still weren't happy! in fact, some people pretend it never even happened it seems as though its 'dirty' to mention our ten-game unbeaten record for some reason. when we appointed lambert we were in a totally different world. i for one felt we were in real danger of slipping straight into league two! we are a different kettle of fish these days - there aren't any candidates that make you think 'yeah, a change right now would actually benefit us'. i think it would probably have the opposite effect to be honest. now if we get to the end of november and we are cut adrift and in the relegation zone then i will totally understand why people are calling for change but right now i think its silly. we were a little bit of luck away from currently being in mid table and quite honestly, i think we look a pretty good side right now and are totally in a false position. still a work in progress but we will continue to be like that for a few years to come
he's saying ALL the things we fans have been calling for. its down to the players ultimately to deliver on those words.
