Just very sloppy yesterday. Giving the ball away when under no pressure is not good enough. Eustace bossed the game yesterday and we had no one to compete with him - he is still a good player. Ref did not have a clue and the Lino by the Lower Rous seemed to struggle to keep with the game all afternoon. I just cannot see how their second goal was not offside. A draw would have been a fair result for both teams yesterday.
There was some very good football in this game and the result could have gone either way. I thought the cross for Derby's first goal was spot on and not easy to defend. Both our goals showed skill and at times the passing interchanges were dazzling. The difference between the sides came down to making the most of two midfield losses of possession. There's always a risk of tackles and interceptions when you play so many crossfield passes and I'm not sure we were alert enough to the possibility of this happening and leading to quick breaks. I've seen very good individual defensive qualities in Angella and Ekstrand but there's still work to be done on the positional sense of the unit of three. It works better with Doyley (and I'm sure Hoban when fit) than Belkalem who does look cumbersome at times. Cassetti didn't have his best game yesterday and McGugan and McEachran seemed to have good spells and then vanish for the game for a while. I like watching Fabbrini...he runs at defenders and really challenges them to tackle or back off...but it's no good lumping the ball in the air to him and there are occasions when perhaps he need to look up a bit more. I'm still not entirely convinced by Iriney, although he began well yesterday and did look more mobile and willing to get forward than against Wigan. A final word on the referee - I never like blaming refs for outcomes of games. Yesterday the ref was not very authoritative, but he missed decisions that could have affected both sides. Off side decisions are always absolutely clear to those of us on the half way line or behind the goal even when we know we're in no position to judge! Overall, the outcome was disappointing but not a disaster...a long way to go yet.
Funny how Steve McClaren won one of his three Forest wins at Vicarage Road, and now he's done it again with Derby.
Was an extremely frustrating match. We were very sloppy in possession and gave the ball away far too much. I actually though Belkalem has improved a lot and played well, other than giving it away once or twice. I thought Ekstrand was the weaker link in defence, giving it away far more and not reading the game quite as well. I also thought other than his goal, FF didn;t do a lot... gave possession away, and at times not tracking back after - their third he seemed to just give up after losing it. I thought Iriney is struggling with the pace of the game still - he wants a bit too much time on the ball, and waits for the ball to come to him. Any team studying us will pick up on this and close him down quickly every time As for the Derby tactics - I thought they played some nice stuff at times, but too often they'd fall down at the slightest tactic, roll around a little while a couple of team mates surrounded the ref. If that was us, the opposite manager would be screaming about our foreign players bringing in the 'ugly' side of the game I thought Murray was a great introduction... and we had a great spell until we scored, then just seemed to take our foot off the gas again. We are still a work in progress though, so nothing to worry too much. Zola spots where the problems are rather than makes excuses, so hopefully we will work on this. Not sure how many times we have had the same defence - it does seem to change every game. If we can get a settle defence, they should stop the sloppy goals!
Good post SK, sloppy goals seem to be a never ending problem for us was a problem last season and continues this.... no matter who is played in defence etc. Difference this season is we do not have the goals up front that we had last season so we will not get away with it this time round as much and oh!! we can not hide behind the Bournemouth & Doncaster scores as in the rest of this seasons games the picture is very different. Im not moaning or panicking and truely love the football we play at times but... we do need a lot of tunning at the moment to be the real deal in the promotion stakes.
Hi every one how was Belkalem performance yesterday? and PLZ do you have any pictures of him VS Derby? i would be very grateful
Sloppy by the Hornets. At least we know what it is - almost as if they'd been out on the chianti the night before! We all thought their 2nd goal was offside but, on reflection and a dozen views on I-player, I reckon the assistant made the right call. We've seen some real blunders all across the game lately: the Hoffenheim 'goal'; Chelsea's first v Cardiff (totally unforgivable by the referee and his assistant); some distinctly dodgy offsides but ours was not one of them. But we were without three automatic first choice players and to have two internationals in Ekstrand and Cassetti completely out of sorts is not ever going to do us any favours. and yes, Cassetti should have had a penalty, but then they could just as easily had one for the same reasons. We did not do enough, end of.

Might have been handy if the ref had noticed at the time! http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/story-19984217-detail/story.html?
Can someone tell me why nobody has noticed their second goal was offside?! It seems so flippin' clear to me
So let me get this right? Because of the ref's incompetence we suffer because Derby should have been down to 10 and Derby's next opponents suffer because Derby should have a player suspended but don't. You couldn't make it up.
To be honest H, we've slowed it down and stopped it when the ball is played, but without the view along the line we just can't tell. It's pretty damn close though.
It would be interesting to see the reaction if this happened in lets say the Champions league or even World Cup!
It already has happened - mind you, not much was said as it was 'only Australia' who bore the brunt of the ref's incompetence. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2006/5108722.stm
